Wholshied and Muniesa were fine. He just doesn't click with Ryan. Blackburn and Man City say they weren't fine at all, mate. Blackburn was one of those days. Man City, well that is obviously piss poor, let's just get rid now.

He was also a bit ropey against Rochdale, really dodgy against QPR and now yesterday and that's without even thinking about it. He's had a few steady games granted but he's not shown anywhere near enough to make me think we should commit long term.

Haven't been able to listen live for a while but have been catching up on the podcasts: that I can't believe how much discussion there's been on the show about Gerrard's last game: have people forgotten that it will be Andy Wilkinson's last available game for us too? He's been with us nearly 18 years - we really need to do something to thank him.
Who means more to Stoke fans - Andy or Gerrard?
We should be getting the club to do something for Andy for that game to say thanks and stop pandering to the Scousers.

They've actually got a 50% win percentage when they play together. Blackburn was on the manager for me. Man City wasn't great but it was Man City. Shawcross and Wolly is by far the worst centre back partnership we have (within reason). I just plain don't rate him, mate. Wolly and Muni look ok against certain types of forwards. Against any real strength or pace they will always struggle as a pair and more often than not in this league you come up against those qualities. My main beef (as it is for Geoff) is that they're both a bit wet where the physical stuff is concerned. Maybe I'm old skool but I want my defenders ready to put their bodies on the line and neither strike me as being prepared to do that. Our defence doesn't have enough of that quality and for me more than anything else is why we ship really shitty goals. Nor me but Muni and Wolly on the whole did look like an ok partnership to me, way better than Ryan and Wolly. I don't think Muni struggles with physicality at all tbh. He doesn't win many headers but wins the one that count and when he doesn't win them he does enough to put the attacker by basically fouling them but in a clever way that means he gets away with it. And I think Muni does, he's always flying in, I think sometimes he flies in too easily (my one main gripe with him tbh). Muni and Ryan is a top 6 centre back partnership for me.

I haven't turned it was tongue in cheek. I know you rate him, I was suggesting it wasn't just two games at all. I seen suggestions he's been "superb" and our "best player" for long spells since his arrival but I've not seen it. He was very decent away at Leicester which along with West Ham have probably been his best performances but to me that doesn't warrant signing him. Factor in the ridiculous hissy fits he's had in a short period of time (which went down like a French kiss at a funeral with his team mates) and I'm in favour of moving our sights elsewhere. For what it's worth I suspect we'll sign him though.

It's absolutely true that next season we must be confident of not being among the bottom 8, but in order to strengthen we need to spend a bit in the summer.

I aren't sure they would, Muni generally covered him well (as he does Ryan imo) and has out strengthed the likes of Carroll, Lukaku, Adebayor etc. He just compliments the pair of them better for me. Wolly is a big tart though, who was it that should barged him yesteday by the Boothen (he moaned like a bitch then too).

His temperament isn't right and if he's isolated you know he's in trouble. He's fine facing the ball but once he's turned he's totally shagged.

Talking of superstition Ange I played football with a bloke who wore the same pair of socks each week ( unwashed) for the whole season. By the Christmas they could stand up on their own.

We will need to spend in the next couple of years with the revenue going up further, make no mistake wether it's irresponsible to do so or not others will be paying big money for players and if we don't keep up we will go backwards, our better players will be poached by clubs with an ambition to spend their revenue to buy success.
I don't agree Stoke isn't attractive, we are half hour drive from Alderly edge and all the manchester big money players live there

Away fans - increase their allocation at the Brit
If the 20 is Plenty is followed by more clubs, it would be full imo
Do we really need to charge £40 + for an away ticket?

Hi Russ, Ange thanks for the interesting programme ... I think we really need to go for the win if we want to have a realistic chance of beating them to 8th place ... we even risk being caught up by Everton now ... we need to be positive but very focussed and concentrated in defence making sure we don't do silly mistakes like we did again yesterday. A draw would be a decent result but I really think we need to go for the win. Cheers Ray

Good job they had a Newcastle player knocking on the kiddies door. Could have gone horribly wrong if they'd had one of Sunderland's star players offering tickets to the little 'uns.

Bego to stay in goal only because other changes are more necessary and you don't want to make too many changes.
He'll still be here next year because his form this season hasn't warranted a move to a bigger club than Stoke.

Agreed about Begovic that he needs to have a good look at himself this summer. He's been a fantastic player since he signed but this is a sticky patch he's going through which he needs to sort out. He must decide one way or the other. I also agree that Butland deserves to come in given Bego's recent erratic form, if only for a few games before the season ends. ... thanks for another great programme. cheers Ray
