And it was Cameron, Dave, so it makes it even worse!

I don't understand this fad for sprinkling the pitch before the game and at half time even. What's the idea? They can sprinkle all week, so why on match day? Just makes it too slippy surely!

I get that watering on the day adds a bit of zip to the ball but despite our improved style (overall) we're still a long way from a true passing side.
Don't really get it either to be honest...

Should be in their contracts that they wear Adidas World Cup and Copa Mundial moulded and fuck all else As I said before, I wonder if they're told to wear a set of boots for a minimum of 45 minutes. Cameron has changed his boots a number of times this season. Perhaps he wears them to fulfill his sponsorship obligations then switches to a better pair. It's also not the first time he's slipped in them. I'm sure he slipped against Southampton too. I wonder if they're blades or studs?

They've got to use the sprinklers at half time though cus it's as funny as f@ck when some innocent bystanders get soaked on the pitch during an interview etc. + Remember the £1000 draw thing they did earlier this season lol.

And it was Cameron, Dave, so it makes it even worse! Too right mate but when it comes to boots, even my favourites don't escape the wrath. Shawcross in those luminous yellow monstrosities. He's a centre half for fucks sake. Get a pair of Adidas or Nike BLACK boots and look like a centre half for fucks sake. The simple facts are that ridiculous coloured boots are exactly that. Ridiculous. Unless you are super talented with ability that cannot be questioned, you shouldn't be wearing coloured boots. In our squad, the only player good enough to wear anything other than black boots is Bojan. The rest of them should be wearing black. Cameron, definitely, not only should be wearing black boots but his should be the Adidas World Cups or Copa Mundials. He isn't good enough to wear anything else.

If they have a boot deal, the player will have to wear boots from the current range of that particular manufacturer. They won't be forced to swap them at half time. Cameron swapped because he's braindead and didn't learn from the last home game where he did exactly the same thing. He doesn't do it away from home. Did anyone notice the one player on the pitch who didn't have any problems with slipping? I'll give you a clue. He played for the opposition and he was the only player to take to the pitch in black boots with metal studs! EDIT - I might also add that Asmir's form has turned to shit since he ditched his black Nike boots (with yellow Nike tick) for those ridiculous Aladdin slippers he's been wearing practically all season, switching as he does between Silver and Orange versions of the same boot.

The solution is for all defenders to wear plain black Adidas World Cups, no matter what they're offered by sponsors. I'm a huge fan of Ryan but Ffs, neon green/luminous urine coloured boots? Come on. If your urine is that colour MD you need to see an MD. :-) Or cut back on the Berroca!

On a serious note (though these stupid boots really do annoy me) the problem with our pitch is actually to do with the construction of the surface as it stands currently.
By all accounts, the top layer of the pitch is very soft, but also very shallow and below that, it is really firm so whatever studs are worn, the surface doesn't particularly "take them" especially when turning quickly. See how Shawcross slipped when trying to change direction quickly on the Sunderland chance where Asmir actually went someway towards redeeming himself following his early clanger.
I'm sure that they are ripping the pitch up in the Summer (and those at Clayton Wood) so as to try and improve the situation.

As I'm an old git, I have a picture of my school under 15 team in Utch from 1973 with me wearing white Hummel Alan Ball boots! Everyone else had standard black issue. If you knew me you wouldn't be surprised It did make me a target for opposition defenders

I think the point of blades as opposed to studs is to give better grip when running in straight lines and also on harder surfaces. Here's the problem though, the pitch wasn't hard. It was soft. It might be summer, when blades are probably okay to use, but the pitch was very soft and that's why players were falling. Studs are far superior than blades on softer ground. This should be trivial to the players though, and this is what annoys me.

I noticed they all seem to have them now - some money spinning sponsorship deal going on plainly my opinion - they are shit boots they could be costing us points and points means money and league position go back to proper 'normal' ones ASAP Who in god's name would sponsor some of the players though, I mean I get GCam cus of the American market and that but I recko its just a fashion statement

He was featured on their website a lot around the world cup time. I guess as a Premier League regular, he is marketing gold for a company like Nike who are trying to appeal to both America and UK as a marketplace. The whole thing is fucking barmy though. As a footballer and someone with more than half a braincell, he should be aware that his choice of footwear is absolutely vital. Too often this season Geoff has slipped and he's been lucky that he's not been punished. Just look at what happened with Wolly. That is how quickly the whole thing can fall apart. I'm still amazed that players haven't learnt their lessons after the metatarsal madness a few years ago. A player like Cameron, or anyone in a defensive role should be wearing thicker boots with good upper foot support. I once made the mistake of buying F50's which are a lightweight boot with very little support and protection. 5 minutes into my first wearing in a match, I threw in a challenge in which the opposition player came over the top of my boot leaving me in agony and ultimately hobbling off the pitch.
