Glen to screen the defence and Marc so much more dependable than wolly and a much better partner for Ryan
Glen suits nzonzi better too and clearly you can't play Ireland and Adam in the same team as they just both run out of steam
Thought we missed Moses as well today who would have mirdered them when we had the ascendency first half
Still very Confident ,Glem and Marc will be back next week .

Presumably that's not the Glen who was absolutely awful against Southampton last week. So who goes out to make room for Glen and Marc?

Naw... We missed the net ,not Glenn and had a woeful performance from the back, Adam, Ireland and Arnie were on it and Nzonzi did Glenn's job amazingly well. As for Bego's slip up and Wollys mare... I would of subbed Wilson in after Wolly had a few of those direct passes to Sunderland players.

Marc plays at centre back with Ryan and Glenn plays instead of Ireland as we can't afford Ireland and Adam in the same team simple and believe that's how we will. Start next week

Glen who was shite against Southampton and single handedly lost us two points against West Ham? No thanks.
Wilson. Just no.

Both regulars in our ever ever finish wake up and smell the coffee too Professionals no tantrums and pushing of our own players , and nzonzi is wasted doing Glenn's work Mark and his team will see common sense next week in sure

Difficult to argue we missed Glenn. His replacement scored the only goal (something you can bank on Whelan not delivering) and the only goal conceded was a goalkeeping error (yet another).

Start next week Wtf lol Ireland had a few instances in great positions with Adam in Midfield today and not only did Diouf and Walter's and Nzonzi miss passing to an open Ireland in front of their goal for a clear chance several times... his link up play with Arnie was wonderful and half the reason we had so much possession in the first half... This Glenn is holier than thou and needs to start because we fluttered our chances infront of the net and our backline was subpar especially an on trial German youngster is not but a pure mental disease on this board.

Glenn wouldn't have contributed to that to the score and Nzozi can easily cover the back four but who's going to cover the back four? Bego sure didn't today yet again.

He protected them very well today, he cannot help the CB's and fullbacks passing to Sunderland players behind him on the counter... Wollscheid was suspect #1... Nobody can do that and or is that quick to turn a 180º You can't protect people from their own mishaps... Like Bego's.

It was an open game and they had their chances but it wasn't the absence of Glennda that cost us. It was a blunder by Bego and not being ruthless enough again in the final third. Admittedly I only watched on a stream and spoke to my family and friends that went but the picture seems quite clear to me.

He was good on the ball but he was frequently AWOL and they had more chances than a team that bad had any right to - the fact they got into those situations reasonably regularly was in part due to the fact that the back four had zero protection. Bowen said Nzonzi's brief was to sit. He didn't - he played his usual game. Which meant there was nobody sitting.

Tactically it's a fine balancing act. Hughes is trying to get Diouf in the game more and you could see what he was trying to do. Get Adam on the ball deeper to hit the channels earlier. He had to sacrifice one and after last week it was only fair it was Whelan. He wasn't bad but was the worse of the two.
Nzonzi's performance defensively just adds to the evidence that he cannot play as a DM yet on the ball he was his usual composed self (Nothing to say about his offensive play because it's not fair as it wasn't the job he was asked to do today).
Hughes is creating a problem here with certain things. A problem that isn't a big problem and one that can be sorted out over the summer but maybe a problem that needs bringing out.

I am obviously one of the few that prefers Wilson to Wolly, but today I would have gone with the same midfield. The reason is that Sland is a team we really should beat and we should put players on that make us more lethal up front. Next Saturday we are away to Swansea and I would certainly welcome back both Wilson and Whelan!

If Glennda starts though, and Bego makes a blunder in the first minute, Whelan sure as hell isn't going to get us back into it.

Nice to see an attacking line up but the back four had bugger all protection.

He isn't, but does a DM playing add the balance to allow us to push on and let the players who are going to get us back into it do their stuff? I can see why he went with the team he did today and it was worth another look, but so far it's delivered one point out of six in winnable home games and so raises some questions.

I don't think Adam is the answer in a midfield 2. I don't think Adam is the answer full stop, not in the starting XI at least. I can see why he went for it today though, and I don't think leaving Whelan out cost us 2 points.

The other two were in the box. Steven also had two interception for passes to Defoe and then Danny Graham after the backline gave the ball away time after time... behind him. Did you miss those? Like I said, Steven Nzonzi cannot be blamed for a poor backline performance. He sat infront of them fine and it was they who tried to bring the ball out and get caught in possession as He and Adam went forward on the counter time after time...

Charlie Adam is the only central midfielder we have who looks to make things happen in an attacking sense, and is the only central midfielder we have who knows where the net is. He should be the first name on the team sheet for every home game at least.

It's not his fault the backline was poor.

That'd be Glenn's best performance this season at DM. LOL
