Most improved player this season IMO and at times has actually looked like a premier league player and hasn't looked out of place, at other times he has looked poor and has been inconsistent.
How much would we realistically be able to get for him if sold and would he get another prem team?
We historically have been awful at getting a decent sum of money for our players, does the fact that he plays for Stoke take a couple of million off? I'm sure he would do a great job for a promoted team and would probably be good value for them at £3 million?

If someone offered 3m with his contract and age situation I think we'd be tempted to sell.

What would keep the price down is the fact that he is 32 in September. Either way a decision to not sell him should take about one millisecond to make

Can't see any value in selling SJW.
The money he would bring in would not come close to signing an adequate replacement.

If he plays like he has done in his last few games about 500,000 but seriously £3 million?

He might be worth 3 million and if that is the case then why the fuck would we sell him? We will only sell first team players if they force a move themselves or they're going for big money. We aren't so desperate for money that £3 million would shift our top scorer this season...

What would a replacement cost , Jon is probably irreplaceable unless we choose to spend big

To be honest Walters used to infuriate the hell out of me. Now he's OK and unless we get a daft offer and he wants to go then we should keep him.
It just goes to show what good management can do for any player rather than flogging him to death.
Gooooaaaarrrrrnnnnnn Jon

3.5 million. Don't think we'll get an offer for him coming in though.

An adequate replacement?
We need a right winger so Walters is benched. The right hand side again is in urgent need of tarting up.

Not worth selling. Better to keep him in the squad.

Depends, most clubs I'd probably ask for about £3 million.
However if West Brom were to make an enquiry then it's an easy £25 million.

Everyone has a price, but Imo, given his age no one is likely to stump up the sort of amount I'd want.
I'm thinking 5m would make me start to think, with a final figure of 6-7 million

I just don't get it, I really don't. This season has been a typical Walters season - creates little and doesn't score enough but loads of aaard work. 7 goals in the best part of 30 games and people think he's a transformed player. 3 of which came in one game. That's 4 goals in 26 other games this season if my numbers are correct. I find it staggering that some seem so desperate to keep him and even more bizarrely would like us to refuse an offer of 3 million for a soon to be 32 year old forward who as we've established...doesn't score many and doesn't create many. Wow.

I agree with most others in that he may be valued at 3/4 million but his value to us is nearly twice that! I don't think you can replace his work ethic and what he brings to the dressing room.

Either way a decision to not sell him should take about one millisecond to make I meant because we don't historically get big fees for our players, we would sell a player for 1m and a similar player from another club would go for 5m. I agree that his presence in the dressing room add value to us, and I didn't say that I think we should sell him tomorrow but as we move forward I think he should be used more sparingly and a better, younger player brought in so of we did receive an offer I think we would be tempted.

How pathetically condescending to one of our players of the season. Please do expand? If anything that was a compliment to him as in previous seasons he has had "league 1 is his level" and "not good enough for the prem" coupled with his imrovement in some games, he has also been as poor and ineffective in others as he used to be. One of the best players this year? IMO no, but definately most improved

Give him a new contract and keep him here until he can no longer do a job at this level.
After that he can go for free with our heartfelt thanks.

SJW has been a contentious figure over recent years, splitting the fans opinions. Tone running him into the ground probably didn't help much. It's only now that he has less pressure on him to be the main goal getter that he's playing better. Having better players around him clearly helps.

Not worth getting rid. Would cost double, if not triple to get a player of equal usefulness. Forget age for the moment. While Jon is able to get around the pitch the way he does, I don't think he'll be going anywhere. Give it a year or two though, and I imagine he will become surplus to requirements.
