Yes I know he's just signed a new contract but he's been poor of late and correctly hooked early in the last two games. Is the manager losing patience with him? With Palacios out of the door, I'm certain one of our major pieces of business will be in Glenda's position.
Can he prove everybody wrong one more time?

I thought he responded well in the second half tbh because he was absolutely dreadful in that first half, irrespective we need to get a younger player in to dovetail into the role with Whelan so there's a crossover of having someone we know can still do the job and someone who may need time to settle.

TBF Glenda has been one of the most consistent performers this season although he has had a dip in form over the last few games, that doesn't mean we shouldn't be looking to get a better player in but that has to be said about any position in the team. I'm more worried about Jon Walters drastic dip in form and his decision to pass to Crouch instead of shooting himself to me shows his confidence is beginning to waver as well, I'd have subbed him yesterday 10 minutes after half time and in all honesty if we hadn't had so many injuries I wouldn't have even started him. Then again I'm not the manager Gouranga.

Walters should of shot because even the ball he gave to crouch he got wrong ie he hit it to hard at him and behind crouch it looked to me.

IMHO his position will be one of the first looked at, younger, faster stronger type.

I love Whelan and admit he had a poor game yesterday but again Whelan does what Whelan does and it goes under the radar ....ie covering full back when they go forward and also the centre halves which bore fruit when he was the one who cleared that ball off the line at 1-1
His work rate is superb but I think Cattermole will be his eventual replacement

Hughes came very close to bringing Cattermole here 12 months ago and if reports are to be believed, his desire to get him here hasn't diminished, which would suggest he has been thinking about replacing Glenn for sometime.

Great pro also lesst we forget playing off the back of a leg fracture Suggest he will be at the core of the first 11 in August and rightly so allowing Bojan odemwinge ,Moses etc to work their magic

Glenn was poor but everyone was.
We will be different again next week.
But if we do get Cattermole then Glenn is great backup and that's the competion we want next season.

He'll be back, he always is. This is just the downside of the ever decreasing Glenn Whelan circle.

I'd take Cattermole in that role to challenge Glenn.
Glenn has been one of our most consistent players over the years and has credit in the bank. Despite his poor performance it was him who bailed out Asmir. Competition is fine but let's not get ahead of ourselves, he's still a key player.

Whatever becomes of Glenn Whelan pound for pound and everything he's been a part of he is probably one of the best signings in the clubs history
Take a bow son

So much of his work that goes into protecting the back 4 gets overlooked just because a few passes go astray. How we can give him grief when he single handedly stopped us conceding a goal yesterday is beyond me. Might appreciate him when he has gone I suppose.

Clearance off the line gave us the win..............brilliant job there by Glen. I must admit I haven't always been his biggest fan, but his performances over the season have merited his regular first team place, imho.

That goal was all Glen Whelans fault?? Nah half the defence and a good chunk of the coaching staff can put their hands up too!

That goal was all Glen Whelans fault?? Nah half the defence and a good chunk of the coaching staff can put their hands up too! You kidding? The front post man gets beat at the front post with an absolute half arsed attempt to clear the ball from his area and it's not his fault? Massively at fault and it was Mr Whelan. Whoever it is at that front post there (and Whelan has been front post man for half of the season) he has to win that header.

It depends on what we do. If we man mark it is Wolly's fault. If we mark zonal it's Whelan's fault.
If we do a bit of both it is both players at fault.
The problem we have as fans is we have no knowledge of in depth instructions that players get, so it's all guesswork.

Cmon March he had a terrible first half, he improved 2nd half and of course stopped them scoring but he was not MoM.

It's both, it has been for years, we've always man marked with one player going zonal at the front stick, it was the best thing KJ could do on a football pitch. The player at that front stick has to win that header irrespective of men being lost (it's not great from Wolly and he needs a wrist slapping for it) but that man at the front post is there to win that ball at all costs. Walters needs a battering for it too for losing his man.

Saved a certain goal yesterday when none of the other midfielders could be arsed to get back. Passing was poor yesterday, but so was everybody else's.

It's chaos when we defend any corner It's a coaching issue that simply hasn't been resolved. Nobody doing a job at the back post. Bego flapping around. Can't pin all that solely on Glen I'm afraid.

Is there one postion/player in the team that can't be replaced with an upgrade? Ryan and Bojan maybe, possibly N'Zonzi.
The rest should all be looking over their shoulders.
