Sorry for the length of this post.
On hearing the news that Alan Hudson had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, John Mirceta & Dave Machin, vocalist and Bass guitarist with local band Front Page News, contacted me to ask if I would like to get involved with setting up a fund raising evening on behalf of Alan. As many of you, they are both lifelong Stoke fans who took a lot of pleasure from watching Alan play for Stoke City in the 70s & 80s, so they wanted to give something back.
We have come up with an action packed schedule at Our Bar Stoke (Formerly known as London road sports and social club)
The day starts at 12:45pm with a quiz all about Stoke City FC.
(Teams Max of 4 per team £10 entry with the winners receiving half of the quiz taking and the other half going to the charity)
This is followed by live music performed by local bands and artists from across the city, such as Front Page News, Kings Shilling, Messenger, The Lyndsey Bishop duo, Jason Kerr & Hassell Street Jive Street Candy.
We will be showing the 1972 stoke league cup final at the same time running Music and sport related Quiz.
Alan Hudson will be talking football and doing a Q&A session. Other ex-Stoke city players will also be joining us throughout the day such as Brendan O’Callaghan, Kevin Lewis and others.
Food will be available.
The bands and everyone involved have kindly donated their time free of charge and money raised will help support Prostate Cancer awareness and Alan Hudson
This promises to be a great day for lovers of music & local football, especially as it will be a bank holiday weekend.
