He's been pretty average this season by his own high standards and he's starting to make costly mistakes more regularly. Means we'll probably be able to keep hold of him now though which could be a good thing for us. I don't think a top club will be after him after this season.
He needs to go back to the drawing board and concentrate on the basics. He seems to be turning up on TV and radio quite often these days on shows like Question of Sport and so on, maybe this mini celebrity status he seems to be building could be distracting him?

Poor keeping. Simple.

I think it's actually good that he hasn't been quite at his best lately. Means we have more chance of getting him to sign a new contract.
Make no mistake, regardless of the fact that his form this season hasn't been quite as good as it was in the previous two seasons, this guy is a class goalkeeper who we will do very well to keep hold of.

Agree that he at times hasn't been at his best this season, but everybody can still see what a fantastic goalie he still is!

...pretty ropey goalkeeping for their goal, wasn't it? I mentioned it right after it went in.

I didn't think much of Adrian's positioning for Arnie's goal either. What's a keeper doing being beaten across his body like that. Get your angles right and there was nothing to aim at. Keepers - they do nothing but let goals in- and by the way, I saw Banks concede some shockers as well.

It's true that he has made mistakes.
I don't think that people realise what a good goalkeeper he is though. He makes a lot of the game look very straightforward and it's consequently easy to take it for granted. He is, for example, one of the best at claiming aerial balls, whereas Butland doesn't have that part of his game down yet.
You'll miss him when he's gone.

He came back from the World Cup doubly disappointed as he failed to star in that competition (as did his national side) and hence did not raise any interest from big clubs in europe. This season he certainly failed to reach the high standards of last season

Spending his time moaning about people spending their time moaning? Unless his point is to be ironic, I'm not sure what it is. His point is as valid as your highly constructive and well thought out criticism though, and far more truthful.I`am fully aware we didn't win but why our fans cannot enjoy what we are doing and always look for a negative I`am not sure.We dominated a game away from home against a mid table premier league team and kept on going to the very end. We conceded when their guy took a cracking free kick, one we can only dream of replicating with our set piece balls, but there for some reason appears a number of fans only to quick to find fault with anything Asmir lately and cannot wait to see him leave.I hope to god he doesn't because we will struggle to replace him we shall have to hope Jack is the great hope that we are been told he is by these fans well at least until he concedes a penalty or free kick.

I was merely pointing out that Begovic had made an error. He's a Stoke goalkeeper not Muhammed! He's still pound for pound our best player and I love him like a brother. The save he made to keep out Kouyate at the near post was exceptional given how fast he got down to it. Not many would've kept it out.

Only just watched the free kick back again and let's face it, it's a fantastic free kick. I aren't jumping on the bandwagon in blaming bego. I'm jumping on the bandwagon that it's a phenomenal strike from the lad. The whip he gets on it is outstanding. No keeper in the world would have saved that

A stunning free kick.
No keeper would have saved that from where Begovic started.
Only other factor as they pointed out on MOTD was that Begovic took a step to his right just as the free kick was about to be taken. Had he not done so he would have had half a chance I think.
Reason he did it I believe is that he thought Noble was going to take it right footed and go for a curler in to the other side of the net. But in fairness to WHU that slight of hand between Noble and the scorer key component of this well worked and beautifully executed free kick.
Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say well done.

Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say well done. Agree that the goal was mostly down to the bloke that took the kick. It was excellent; pace, swerve and dip. Bego did what a lot of keepers do and took a step to the wall side of the goal. Which meant he was less able to cover a shot on his side. On this occassion i doubt it mattered. But, it's a daft think for a keeper to do. This must be something they are encouraged (or at least not discouraged) to do by the coaching staff. Otherwise they wouldn't do it - surely?

This made it imposible get back, but if he hadn't moved he really should have saved it. As you said a very good free kick, but absolutely possible to save in my opinion. I still rate Bego highly so that is said as well!

Another mistake in what has been a very poor season by Asmir's standards yet he seems to be undroppable.

Just what was wrong with my point then? In my opinion, it was poor goalkeeping. Just like it would be if it were Oliver Kahn, Jack Butland or some Sunday morning fat man. It's all well and good ignoring errors and underperformance because of who Begovic is, and what we know he's capable of, but it's been costing us as many points as he's saving this season. Frankly, if I'd woken up from a 3 year coma at the start of the season, I'd be wondering what the piss this bloke has to do wrong before being 'rested'. As you said, we dominated the game today and we lost out on 2 points because of more shitty, preventable, individual errors. While I accept that happens in football, we've made absolutely no attempt to help the situation for the good of the team. You can accept that or not, I'm not arsed really. I've no doubt we'll be discussing the same two things until the summer; 'What's going on with all these injuries' and 'Should Begovic have done better?'. Very patronising that, well done. You call me patronising given some of the replies on this forum??? I expect no better from some.

Eh whoa no need get personal! I ain`t always been fat and i like to think of it as relaxed muscle if you dont mind . I also aint ignoring mistakes made by Bego but as i said in MY opinion the free kick yesterday was not a mistake but a classy piece of skill one that if Bojan, Adam or Marco had produced would have had this board showering untold praise on to the perpetrator and not one person would mention the opposition keeper. Putting in a bit of context though the problem is the position Bego plays if he does make a mistake he invariably is punished with a goal, compare this to other positions when a striker blazes over from 10yds (every game)no real harm done, a winger continually cannot beat the first man with his cross (every game)a little moan from the crowd again no real harm done, a midfielder misplaces a pass(every game) the odd groan but again unless really unfortunate nothing major happens or a defender smacks the ball 60 yards straight to the opposition(all together now every fucking game) plenty of opportunity to prevent any harm, hopefully you can see what i am trying to get at but as you so eloquently put it I ain`t arsed whether you do or not. Lets hope Hughsie does rest Bego until the end of season and Jack comes in and becomes the new Banksie (even though the great man dropped the odd clanger himself), then Bego can fuck off in the summer as well hopefully to somewhere his ability will be appreciated as it appears unless he keeps a clean sheet every game he is wank according to a few Last week a fucking penalty this week a very well executed free kick. And as for discussing this until the summer No I wont be continuing with this bollocks sorry, as i said on another thread nothing i say will make someone change their opinion and to be honest i do not wish to try, your opinion is just that yours and as that you cannot be judged right or wrong or no more or less important than anyone else and that`s that.
