If we can get him to sign then this would be our biggest signing in the summer IMO.

Every good team has a strong spine. With the likes of Begovic, Shawcross, N`Zonzi and Boajn tied up on long deals we can really push on as a team by bringing 2 or 3 quality players in to compliment them. Good times....

If he continues to learn how to move himself and the ball forwards, then he is worth resigning. But for a player in his position he should be creating more chances and scoring more goals.

If N'Zonzi can add 7-10 goals a season to his game, he'll be off to a much bigger club and will be straight in the French squad.
It's frustrating because he easily has the ability to be the complete midfielder with goals and assists to back up his ball retention and simple stuff.
He always strikes me like he needs to believe in himself a bit more, and feel more confident to express himself. its like he spends 80% of matches playing within himself.

Worryingly he seems to imply there that he's not even thinking about contracts at the moment.

Forgive me if I'm just being an idiot but he doesn't actually mention anything about wanting to sign a contract. Just says he's happy the club want him to sign and he wants to focus on getting a top 10 finish.

I'm sure we'll be hearing from his old man at some stage of the summer. It's as regular a feature as Scholes saying our the manager has money for the right players as we bring in free transfer.
Estimated date for both July 22nd.

As stated there is nothing to say he is going to sign a new contract although I hope he does, it is crucial to make every effort to sign both him and Bego to new contracts.

To be honest,I don't blame N'Zonzi or Begovic for sitting tight, as great as it'd be to see them both signed up already.
They know they've got our top whack of £50,000-a-week as a fallback option - and sadly a last resort.
But they both think they can go higher and this is going to be the big career-defining contract for both of them, and doubtless their agents will be sniffing out any opportunities this summer.
It'll be interesting to see what happens if they don't get the kind of offers they want from elsewhere by the end of the summer. Would they settle on re-signing here (maybe with a clause) or make the unpopular call to run their deals down in search of a Bosman?

As daft as it seems, I think he'd get into the England squad (not that Woy would pick him) when you look at clowns like Delph and Ryan Mason.
Let's start the campaign. If France don't want him, we will.

When you make those comparisons Grapey, you're spot on. I'm a massive N'Zonzi fan. However, if he didn't re-sign, we'd have to sell. It's no good sitting on our ass (et)s.

It'll be very interesting to see where he ends up. One thing is for certain, he won't be signing a new deal.
I think he'll hold on as long as he can and try and get a Bosman.
Begovic will be sold.

Sadly I agree. Asmir definitely. Not sure Nzonzi will have so many takers. Still unfulfilled potential. So frustrating.Could be a great player.

I'm ready and prepared to lose Bego and hope we get a good fee. It's time for Butland to stake his claim. I don't want N'Zonzi to go but, if he decides to try and run is contract down then we have to sell, get some decent money (not as much as we need if he's in the final year of his contract) and get a replacement. He would be a massive loss and I still hope he'll put pen to paper.

I am sure as can be that both will sign new deals; everyone that matters is saying that the club has ambitions and I believe they will want to be a part of it. Next season is set to be a defining moment in the Club's process. not itk it just feels like it did in Waddo's day when the optimism returned.

It's weird.
The headline is 'N'Zonzi set to sign new contract' but I came away with precisely the opposite impression.

As in question as in will he or won't he As the thread shows, some think he will, some don't Some think he will be off this summer, some next You can read it half full or half empty, hence the ?
