Happen to be in Madrid when they are playing Almeria. Is getting back into the centre of Madrid easy after a night game? Thinking of taking someone not really interested in football, is it a decent experience? Thanks.

Worth the experience, I went against Celta Vigo and it was full of tourists to be fair. Cracking game though ended up 4-2 to Madrid with goals from Ronaldo, Figo and Zidane if I recall.....

How easy is to get to and from the game? As I said taking a non football supporter, is it OK on public transport?

We were staying just off Puerta del Sol, one of the main squares in the centre of Madrid. It's 4/5 km's from there if I recall, me and the missus just walked for 5 minutes and jumped in a taxi so it was easy enough. The Santiago Bernabéu metro stop is literally next to the ground (as the name suggests) although I would imagine it's absolute chaos trying to get on it just after the game finishes........

A certain Mr Woodgate made his debut, scored an own goal and got sent off. Remarkably Woodgate was applauded off the field The game was a sell out and I was amazed how easy it was to get away. We took the nearby tube back to the city centre and I would say that despite the throng we were back in the centre within 30 minutes. The tube station was packed but they must run a huge number of trains to shift something like 90,00 fans in that time

It's really easy. There is a frequent metro service to Santiago Bernabeu and even if you leave it close to kick off the trains don't get as packed as rush hour on the tube in London.
On the occasions I've been we've walked down to Nuevos Ministerios to catch the metro after the game so couldn't really comment about how busy the Bernabeu station is after the match.

Fca I arrived in Madrid yesterday and have got tickets too. Am thinking of using the metro to and from Estrecha, approx 15 mins away from ground and using bars around there too.

Went to el clasico there in October. Cost me 400 squid for a ticket (off viagogo) but well worth it. Ironically Ronaldo and Messi were arguably the worst players on the pitch!

been twice, two 0-0 draws, typical.
1st leg of a CL QF v the shit in 99/00 then a copa del rey semi v espanyol
the worst part was deciding to th espanyol game because I knew where i was going instead of making the extra effort to get to the Calderon, where Atleti drew 3-3 with Barca on the same night.

I lived there for a while. It's a piece of piss getting back into town. Bus, train, cab or even walk (it's a bit of a hike but I did it once) Its usually a big old party that can go on into the wee hours so go enjoy yourself and just follow the crowds. You may want to think twice about wearing your Stoke shirt as you may get mistaken as an Atletico fan - and definitely don't do it if you've got an ex-Barca players name on the back!
