How can this be? Cardiff are massive. Sam Hammam said they were massive, Vincent Tan said they were massive (especially in Asia) and their fans have told us they're massive so they must be massive. They now play in Blue so all of their fans must be happy that all is right in the world. This is an early April fools joke surely?

Joking apart is this not the big fear of those at our club opposed to filling in one or more corner?
Cardiff averaged an identical 27k to us in the Prem, whacked on an expensive top tier extension to take the capacity up to 33k then it all went Pete Tong on the pitch and they are back in the Championship with <20k and stuck with a big fuck off white elephant.

We have a greater "hardcore to day trippers ratio" fan base than they do and we shouldn't be scared of having a 30,000 capacity stadium just because we will probably get relegated one day! BM

If we got relegated I reckon the first season we would be lucky to get 20 K the second season 17 K GD Maybe that's right Dave I guess but would depend on how we did. BUT if we want it to be different than this we need to increase our hardcore fan base so that if our attendances drop on relegation they are higher than the numbers you quote. However we cant increase our hard core fan base because we run so close to capacity that for most games the only seats available to potential newcomers are singles or with a shit view in the first couple of rows. We will never have a better chance to expend our fanbase than now and the cost of it shouldn't be much of a consideration like it once was, so obscene are the amounts of money coming into the football club. BM www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/stkc.htmThat paints something of a different picture. Where are Cardiff's attendances in that link Santy? My point is that I think that although our fanbase has been fickle compared to say Derby's, Cardiff's is fickle compared to ours. They built their stand extension based upon their ego not the reality that they hadn't been in the top flight for several years, that they weren't an established top flight club and they hadn't been running close to capacity for much more than a single season. None of which applies to us. BM

Fill the corners in if we are selling out 75% + of games each season and the powers that be reckon we could sell more (selling the last seat at 2:55 on a Saturday fails this test).
Until then it's just a waste of money

These, of course, are the red seats in the ground. The rest of the seats are blue.
It looks like Tan's idea of Cardiff being represented in red is fading rapidly.

What ifs will drive you mad, we are averaging 98% attendance, casual attendance is almost impossible so now could be the best time to fill in the corners. Additional attendance or not they need filling in as the wind affects play.

Cardiff did it in their first season, we didn't. If we had we'd have had the last half-a-dozen seasons being able to attract over 30,000 to most matches. If we go down in the future & our regular match going fanbase decreases to under 20,000, we'll still have loads of empty seats whether our ground holds 28,000 or over 30,000.

Cardiff are a one city team and their city is far bigger and more attractive than ours. Granted they're more attracted to sheep and rugby but you can't blame Stoke for showing caution. I'd prefer a good team than a nice shiny stadium any day of the week.
If it was a straight choice of corners or Victor Moses then the corners can fuck off

If it was a straight choice of corners or Victor Moses then the corners can fuck off Population of the two urban areas is actually similar (North Staffs - 469,000, Cardiff 447,000) and the population there also has two teams to support judging by what I see whenever I go there (Cardiff City and Man Utd). Also as you allude North Staffs is a traditional football supporting area Cardiff less so. However that is by the by because how in this day and age with obscene amounts of money coming into the club can or should it be a straight choice between building a corner or signing the likes of Victor Moses? We could build the corner at fraction of the cost that we have thought nothing of previously spunking away on a player that we don't even play! If it's a straight choice of corners or the likes of Wilson Palacios, Palacios can fuck off! BM

I'll take one fuck up in seven years especially as many (myself included) thought that Palacios was going to be the bollocks. I'm fully behind the club on the corners issue, when they feel the time is right they'll do it. In the meantime if they want to show caution then I'm happy with that as well. They've made a lot of excellent business decisions and deserve our trust. Empty seats is a horrible sight in football. Sunderland and Boro looks so gloomy on TV with nobody there

As important to me as the extra capacity and support we'd get from improvements to the stadium, is the benefit of not watching a game spoilt by the wind playing havoc. And, the ground looks unfinished, as many have alluded to on here. We didn't build it properly in the first place and someone needs their arse kicking for signing off on the design. Ground improvements would undoubtedly help the quality of the football we view (admittedly only a little) and the atmosphere would benefit too. As for the OP's Cardiff obsession, it's been many years in the making and he's never got over giving me his ticket for the second leg of the play off semi!!!!!
