Was he ever reallty given any chance? A serious run of matches? A decent run out?

Shea was unfairly treated, he made his debut while vastly unfit after recovering from a major injury. The fans got on his back from the start, which unsettled him more than the 4000 mile trip to come here had already done. This blow any confidence he had and then constant injuries hampered any chance of a run of games to show what he can do and build his confidence up.

Yep. Cant argue there. His confidence was destroyed. So much crap surrounded his time here though, the guns, the pig head pose, the Barnsley fiasco.
I met an Orlando fan the other day and everyone is excited about the team apparently, glad Brek is playing football again, never wish any of our players ill will.

And yet he had ample opportunity at Barnsley and Birmingham and was shite at both.
This "he never had a chance at Stoke" argument is utter bollocks. He just wasn't good enough, and that's being kind.

Get Rory back. He scored an overhead kick once.
There is/was something there with Shea, it just didn't work out for him here.

Like the fact that he was largely dreadful whenever he played?

He is actually playing quite well for Orlando at the moment but I don't think he was ever going to make it in the Premier League.

It is easy to argue against to be fair, it absolves him entirely of any responsibility.

He went to Brum when they were really really shit and after 3 games was dropped, not just from the team but from the matchday squad. He was clearly out of his depth and nowhere near good enough. Brek was very shit and gave every kid with two left feet and no natural ability the hope that one day they too could become professional footballers.

It's nothing to do with where they're from. Actually, I believe that when it comes to Brek. He never came close to living up to what many, including myself, thought he could accomplish when he crossed the pond.
