Ok guys, I have lived here in Singapore for the last 3 years and, with the best interests of my fellow Stokies at heart, I went out last weekend to conduct a price list of beers. It was difficult but someone had to do it. Here goes... Large bottle of Tiger beer (633ml) in a local hawker centre (Newton for those in the know) - $7 Pint of Tiger in Raffles Long Bar - $20. Mrs had a Singapore Sling - $26 Pint of Stellar at the Polo Club - $14 Small Tiger (330ml) at the top of Marina Bay Sands - $15 Pint of Erdinger in local bar - $12 A 6 pack of Tiger (330ml) from the local supermarket - $12.50 (you cannot drink these on the street) Basically $2 = £1 For you added information, beware of the ++ sign. This refers to +10% for tip and +7% tax. A further survey, to be carried out purely in the interests of you guys, can be carried out on request.

abdylilah I've noticed the horse racing is on whilst we are in Singapore. Have you been? Is it worth a trip?

Mate, if you are still in Oz then it is only about 650 AUD or thereabouts to get across. Dunner worry Hey up Rog....what have I missed here??!!?? It's the Singapore event that Stoke are involved in. Thought SCFC2014 (alias Chugga) may still be in Sydney and wishing to get out of the rain so it wouldn't be too much dosh for him to get across to sunnier climes around the Equator.

Love that Raffles hotel; the dogs bollox and a cut above the Ash Bank hotel back in Werrington. Hoping to drop in there when next passing through from Oz. Will have to catch you for a beer mate. Cheers Rog

However, I am told that it is a good day out and reasonably high standard. Horses, trainers, jockeys are a mixture of local and ex-pat, mainly Aussies. Quite a few packages on offer so fill your boots mate!

Honestly why would you go all that way for one game and pay all that money,do you really think we,ll take a full strength side, cause i dont These games are probably played to enhance the popularity of SCFC in Asia and to give Asian fans a chance to see their adopted club. If fans at home can afford to go and watch plus combine it with a cultural visit then why shouldn't they. If I could afford to do this then I would, but I can't afford to travel to Stoke for every game, so I'm out.

So don't worry you won't be missing out......

Am I and my lad the only UK based fools going ? I may well be popping over, my eldest is in Kuala Lumpur at the moment at Uni, he's staying over that way travelling for a bit when he's finished so if I go I'll hopefully be spending some time with him. Don't think we'll be staying in Singapore for too long tho'. Hey Robbie you jammy bastard! Your mission for a couple of the spare days. It would be good if there were four of you and one can fly a plane, one a master of disguise, one a mechanic and one a pretty boy! Pop over to Vietnam, on your way to Thailand and firebomb the soon to be two Arsenal academies!

Looks like the only one I have a chance of with that lot is the master of disguise We were in Vietnam year before last, I quite liked Ho Chi Minh... I'm nowhere near as jammy as my lad, he's been over there at Uni since September and he's been all over the bloody place. Edit - And having thought about it, given the choice I'd rather be at every home (and away if I was to be greedy!) game next season than do the trip to Asia, this is scant consolation

I've had a quick chat to Rog (marrer) about going to Singapore.....are there any other supporters in Oz likely to make the trip? I know Stoke may not bring their strongest squad, but how many more times will they be THIS close, so that us poor buggers Down Under will be able to watch them 'live'?? My only problem is that I have to apply for a Passport

It would be great to have had an Aussie's on Tour section at the games.

Heading back to England to see the family at end of June, then stopping off in Singapore on the way back to watch the lads for the first time in three years. I'll be on my own so looking to meet up with fellow Stokies.

You will probably find that most of the asians support man utd or liverpool so i doubt we have any asians who want to adopt us and as that othe guy said we wont be taking a strong side so my advice is save your money for the new season

What's s this won't be taking a strong squad bollocks
It will be the full squad as it's a fantastic work out v strong opposition and a chance to expand the name of SCFC in the far east and add to that contractually we will be obliged to
Im sure some just make this shit up

How exactly would anyone know on here what side we are taking? An Asian Cup pre season competition, why would we send a weakened squad? why do some feel the need to make this rubbish up ? Lived in Singapore and whilst not cheap a wonderful place to visit and watch football. Will be there

Everyone's moaning about ticket prices being expensive now the club want to take pre season friendliest the other side of the bloody world. The players just need a run out so why go all that way with the chance of getting injuries on those pitches they play on out there is beyond me Everyone isn't

I've heard off a few on here that we're not bringing a strong squad,we go conned into that by Pulis in Valencia so not going risk it again.

I'm likely to be on my own too, as the wife doesn't like travelling that much; the Park Hotel looks pretty classy, eh!? Just have to sort out my Passport, but in order to get that I need to re-apply for my Citizenship Documentation (yes, I'm an Aussie now !!)
