We played straight into pulis hands today. The minute he saw the line up he must have rubbed his hands together, The only pace we had was Moses so they doubled up on him. So so easy. The worrying thing is every bugger could see it except Hughes

I would have loved to been born with the gift of hindsight. Gouranga. It was pretty obvious that a lack of pace away from home would make it difficult for us though. Adam, Crouch and Walters all together is just too slow to counter attack with. I'm sure Sparky will heave learnt from this though.

Higgy was calling for pace a couple of days ago and it is the obvious answer. The only pace we had was Moses and he was easily marked. That he didn't play well would be hindsight.

We'll have to let him off for a rare bad day at the office.

No he could have changed it before the enforced subs. Send Moses back as well that is unacceptable for me.

It was the same side that beat Everton (bar Shawcross) last home game, when we played really well,so as far as I'm concerned there weren't many complaints with the starting line up before the game kicked off. Then low and behold, because the side didn't perform as well,we have supporters giving the manager grief.

Unfortunate with the subs but Adam was never going to last ninety minutes so that cuts our options. Lots of us have said time without number that Adam shouldn't start. We had to have pace today, even Higgy said as much in the Sentinel, but the only pace until too late was Moses. Sadly he didn't play well but then nobody did. We have had and are having a great season; we are eighth with 42 points; we have an exceptional manager and we are playing some of the best football since Waddo. But we had a bad day abd much of it was caused by team selection. It happens, not a tragedy and we move on hopefully back to business as usual. Doesn't mean we can't have an opinion of how we played today or of some of the players who are being left behind because we have moved on.

So who would you have started in Adams position today considering all the other viable options are injured? Then due to the injuries what would you have done different to get Adam off the pitch(because he can't last 90 minutes)? Like I said(sorry, like Michael Bolton Wanderers said),Hindsight is a wonderful thing!

Like I keep saying you are basing your opinion on hindsight when the be all and end all is,we were shit, and would have been regardless what first eleven Hughes picked. Once that team was picked,Hughes' hand was forced due to unforeseen circumstances.

He has the work rate and endeavour to play the position but he also has the pace to go past Crouch on the break when we counter - WHICH IS WHAT WE ALWAYS TRY TO DO WHEN WE PLAY AWAY. How can you counter attack with Crouch, Adam and Walters? Comparing playing at home to playing away isn't comparing like with like. There were plenty of people (understandably) questioning the team selection before a ball was even kicked this afternoon - absolutely nothing to do with hindsight.

Just to back up your point, Diouf played in the hole at Citeh and was superb all game, even ignoring the goal he scored. He's perfect for the role in our current injury predicament. Drop a fully fit Bojan for him? No, but I doubt anyone would say that.

We should certainly find it easier to accept than let's say Man City fans today!

Is this the same Diouf that shit loads of Stoke fans (not me by the way) have written off as wank? I don't believe that playing on the break is our one and only way of playing when away from home, because if it was then there is no way that our manager would set up like he does. My opinion is,that too many fans, especially on here, like to analyse performances too much, when the truth is,that every now and then we won't play to our potential and we will invariably lose a game of football. Regardless of what team Hughes picked today I'm sure the outcome would have been the same because the simple fact is,we were fucking woeful to a man.

Diouf was woeful when he came on, I'd rather see Jerome back, Arnie was pretty gash too.
Moses didn't look up for it today which was a bit of a concern, then as has been said the lack of pace in the other three meant WBA's much ridiculed three centre halves before the game had a very easy ride

Would have much preferred Diouf to start and Walters in the middle with Arnie on the right. Remind me again why Crouch started? Lescott had him in his pocket for the entire game. When will Hughes learn that we make no attempt to play football when he starts, he looked like Bambi on ice when he went down on the edge of the box.

What's the point in having a football discussion message board if supporters don't analyse performances? Let's just pat the manager on the back (regardless of how we actually played) when we win and say absolutely nothing (again regardless of how we played) when we lose. If you personally don't want to discuss tactics, formations and selection choices then that's absolutely fine but it does seem a little bit silly for you to come on to a public football forum and criticise football fans who do want to.
