having a chance at a shot on goal is completely different from having a "Clear golascoring opportunity" you can have a shot from 30 yards but that wouldn't be a "Clear goalscoring opportunity" would it? Eh? I am talking about this specific incident & he is about 8 yards from the goal so of course its a clear goalscoring opportunity! Just because he is 8 yards from goal doesn't necessarily mean its a clear goal scoring opportunity... what if he's 8 yards from goal but facing the lino? that's not a goal scoring opportunity is it?

FFS - I am not talking theoretically, I am talking about this particluar incident! He was in on goal and bought down. As for the OP, the time of the offence is irrelevant. Well done ref.

Watch the clip again, at the point he was bought down he had the opportunity to shoot and the other defender was not between him and the goal. The keeper was but then that is the case in 99% of these situations. It is still a CLEAR GOALSCORING OPPORTUNITY.

You can debate whether it should have been red or not
but for me thats certainly a goalscoring opportunity, 8 yards out, just the keeper to beat, with a decent angle

Its a goal scoring opportunity. He's about to pull the trigger before being brought down.
Penalty. Red card. Ref correct to take his time and discuss it with two officials who were less than 15 yds from it.
Text book refereeing.
