Part of the rehabilitation of people's views on SJW's ability (as opposed to his workrate and commitment) has been his unlikely partnership with Bojan for those few delectable months either side of Christmas. People saw a different SJW, defter of touch and sharper of vision. I am beginning to wish he was five years younger, so that he can stay at his peak for longer. He will wane as he gets more into his thirties. slower, precise and technical players like Crouch can probably go on until they are about 36-37. Super John's game is all about energy and bustle. His duracell battery will die out sooner rather than later, surely? You're quite right. There will be a stage at some point where he won't be able complete 90 mins for 38+ games a season. It doesn't mean we can't still can't the best out of him. The key will be to manage him properly, a less rigorous training programme, being more selective as to which games he plays in and for how long. There's no reason as to why we can't get another 3-5 years of good performances.

Would it be unethical to put SJW on a stud farm with some female Russian shot putters?
Imagine the stock we would have in about twenty years time.

The very fact that Hughes didn't see him as a part of his starting 11 at the start of the season and how he took his opportunity when called upon tells us everything we need to know about SJW. He works arrrrrrd!!

As has been said, a Stoke City legend and fully deserving of his starting role on the right.

SJW's neighbour is Jan Mølby, and whenever Mølby is commenting on Stoke on Danish TV, he tells what a top bloke SJW is.
They have a deal, where they meet up in Mølbys garage on the morning after a Stoke match and shares a couple of beers, and talk football. If Stoke have won Mølby brings the beers, if not SJW does ...

I say this without a word of irony but they have very similar accents.

TelegraphMeanwhile, the Stoke City forward Jon Walters will not face sanction by the FA after appearing to claim he would take physical retribution against any opponent who attempted to spit at him during a game. Christ. Was this really deemed worthy of clarifying? The mind boggles.

On the subject of spitting how can Evans deny it? It's damming evidence he should have his ban doubled for a frivolous appeal!

Ill freely admit I wanted Walters dropped towards the end of Pulis's reign, and I stick by it - he was panicky in front of goal and was contributing more effort then effect. For me he's a player that needs to know he can be dropped, he IS a model worker but that was the problem - praise a model worker for doing nothing but sweep the floor, and all he'll do is sweep the floor. Praise Walters and pick him every game for running about, he'll run about diligently but without that bite which makes him the best player he can be. The kind of Walters that dragged the "injured" spurs player off the pitch in his first game shows when he's trying to impress, as he is knowing that his place isnt automatically guaranteed, and he's a hell of a lot better for it.
Also I agree his partnership with Bojan helped massively... who honestly thought they'd work so well together?
On the spitting subject, you can actually hear him be very careful about his words once its brought up in the talksport interview. Its no wonder that most premier league players are so mindlessly dull to the media when something as low key as Walters said, garners so much press and the possibility of FA sanctions against him
