Nobody's commented on his total inability to kick the ball with his right foot - apart from that ... love him to bits

I thought the other three defenders out shone Eric last night. He is a solid enough player for us but I have to admit I was expecting a bit more from a Dutch international.

I thought he was better last season. He's played well lately, through. He's clearly yet another leader. I reckon there could be a bunch of our squad who end up being good managers. Eric,Charlie and Glenn for sure. What tune is that to?

I reckon he's every bit as good as Leighton Baines and his beard is far better than Wilson's. Of our back four, my preference is like this: CB - Shawcross CB - onner bothered LB - Pieters RB - onner bothered Onner Bothered can't play in two positions at once! we are signing the onner bothered twins in the summer

Good, solid pro. I like the fact that he's not flashy and there aren't any frills about him. He's a bit of a throwback and not some new-agey wing-back type.
Reminds me a lot of peak Danny Higginbotham.

Eric,Charlie and Glenn for sure. Charlie?!?! He'd be the really cool boss who brings tins of beer into the office as an incentive to work hard when it's an important day, insists everyone goes for a beer at the end of the working day in the interests of team-bonding, and takes the lads out to strip clubs when they're away on a training course because "you've got to find that balance between work and play".

Some google translate gibberish in this Pieters interview in Dutch press but decent read. "You have to be honest: it is not in terms of successes Liverpool or Man United. Stoke's just Stoke. But you should be proud. Everyone is. Founded in 1863, eh. That means something. Stoke is still seen as a big club, even though they were far from being in the Premier League. I notice it with the people who work there, and not so much the elderly. If we train once in the stadium, they all come with a smile to you. Their love radiates. I'm not saying that Dutch do not love their club, but it is different. Here nobody leaves ten minutes before the grandstand. After each game, I walk around and then sits still full. You are allowed to lose once 1-0. As long as you give everything, it's good. Then: applause and better next time. "
"For my father it was very special that Mark Hughes is the manager. He saw him as a striker for Manchester United. For me it was not ring a bell. I saw him just as a trainer. If you go back take the time to previously-used, you learn more and more. About the history and the fans of Sir Stanley Matthews and Gordon Banks. About the legendary throws from Rory Delap. And on the Britannia Stadium where it is always windy because three angles are open. When last was rumored that Lionel Messi would go to Chelsea, appeared like a photo on Instagram with a message. Is he ready for a night Stoke without the Spanish sun but with wind and rain? That says everything about the reputation of this club. "

Of our back four, my preference is like this: CB - Shawcross CB - onner bothered LB - Pieters RB - onner bothered He's nowhere near as good as baines mate. Fair enough, he doesn't possess Baines dead ball skills and perhaps his crossing is not in that same very high bracket ~ but he's not that far off Baines. Like many of our squad, he's really improved this season and I dint think the Baines comparison was that far wide of the mark.

Jeez trousers, he would be pretty wank if he didn't seeing as we have no other left-backs There were a few people calling for Muniesa to play there, even quite recently, and I still think that full back is Wilson's best position. However, Pieters is definitely the main man there now.
