Let me get this right, Jedinak quite rightly gets a 3 game ban for violent conduct after an elbow but Figueroa gets nothing for a violent and deliberate studs up challenge that rips a 3inch gash in Ireland's calf. WTF that makes no sense what so ever. Who makes these rules because they appear to be made up as incidents occur. We need Malcolm Clarke to explain this as it is outrageous

We need Malcolm Clarke to explain this as it is outrageous It's back to whether the incident was seen by the officials. Jedinak's wasn't so the FA can charge. Figueroa's was, so under the current rules they can't. The problem with altering the rules so that they could is that you are effectively having the whole game re-refereed post-match. Do we really want that ? Personally I think both Ireland and Figueroa got away with one on Saturday. Probably both yellows, but possibly red. The rules certainly aren't made up as things occur - they are clear, even if you disagree with them.

I agree with you that we don't want to see games re-refereed but common sense has to prevail Malcolm. But when the ref gets it so wrong after such a violent incident it seems absolutely crazy that the FA cannot take retrospective action even if the ref saw it. And I agree Ireland was guilty of a bad challenge on Figueroa earlier which the ref took no action on. Most saw the Figueroa challenge as revenge action on Ireland, which has now effectively been condoned by the FA and this little feud will rumble on between these two players. In the mean time Jedinak gets 3 game ban for raising an elbow.
