Referee didn't see it, so can be punished after the event.
Unlike Rooney's elbow a year or two back, which the referee did apparently see and thought "yep, that's fine".

Strange, he had already won the challenge and in a split second decided to follow through with the elbow, hopefully retrospective action.

Just checked their fixtures.
A three game retrospective ban would mean he's out of our game against them.
So he'll get away with it, most likely.

Not that he ever would, but imagine if that was shawcross , we would never hear the end of it, calls for life bans and police charges.
