When was the last time we finished above Everton in the league? Struggling to remember if it has happened in my Stoke supporting days, now aged 44 and been going since 1978.

That'd be 1980/81 when Stoke City finished 11th and Everton finished 15th in the old 1st Division. The previous season Stoke City finished 18th and Everton finished 19th (22 teams in the old 1st Division)

Who'd have thought we'd be 11 points above Everton at the start of the season. Don't know how Martinez is still in the job.

Bojan won us the game when we played them on boxing day. I don't see us winning this time, I think it will be a 1-1 draw.

Personally I'd like NZonzi to be pushed up into the position ,with Sidwell or Fonzi filling in behind ,also I wouldn't rule out Mr Adaptable SJW to move in behind Crouch ,with Mame Diouf pushed out wide again .
I thought Charlie did really well , but I can't see him lasting more than 45 minutes these days , both due to his stamina and how long he'd avoid picking up 2 yellow cards

Given how many Stoke fans thought Martinez would be a better choice than Hughes...ahem . Wouldn't it be great to get 6 points off them.

Its gotta be Charlie. Nzonzi is playing out of his skin but his one weakness is his shooting ...he just wouldn't get enough goals as an attacking midfielder.

Crouch has 4 in 4 he has to start ahead of diouf , we need an intelligent striker not a headless chicken No doubt Crouch has earned a start with that stat. However, I'd still start Diouf for this one. Everton look so flat footed at the back this season, I think a pacey front line could be key.

I would stick 2 up top, Crouch and Diouf and get at them from the start. Leave Charlie on the bench again for this one.

Plan A. Mame and Crouch.
Plan B. Adam in some form or other with the least performing forward coming off.
Plan C. Sidwell into the midfield.

I think I'd start with the same XI barring Charlie coming in for the injured Ireland as I think Diouf may cause Everton's back four more problems than he did against Hull's three centre backs.

I think I would go with something really crazy and play Geoff in the Bojan position.
The lad has passion and energy. He has no little skill and never stops running.
We have tried him everywhere else on the pitch and it just doesn't quite work, so let's see how he does as a converted forward.

I can see all of Arnie, Adam, Crouch, Sidwell and Cameron getting a start at either West Brom or this game tbh. In fact, I think it'd be mad if they didn't.

I think I would put Adam on at the start as he will be buzzing with Arnie in line to sub when the former is knackered after 50 minutes or so.
Up front it has to Crouch I think. Diouf to rest/come on late on.
Everton are a dirty team and I think we will do well to avoid getting sucked into a scrappy type game.

Charlie was close to scoring twice and laid Crouchy's winner on a plate. He's a goal threat and should be given the shirt on Wednesday. Hopefully he'll get his backside in gear and get a good run between now and the end of this season and help us win a few more points. A repeat of his winner at The Hawthorns would be most welcome.

Hughesy plays players on merit and Adam deserves a start after yesterday. I'll be surprised if he doesn't start, likewise Crouch to start ahead of Diouf.
