Wollscheid was outstanding. One moment in the second half was one of the best defensive headers i've ever seen live. Most defenders loop the ball high and out. Wollscheid dipped his head and cushioned a lovely header into midfield and turned defence into attack in one move. I've said it from day one and i'll stick with it. When he is up and running he will be the main stay of our defence. For a centre half, his ability on the ball is excellent. Fully agree. I love the way he takes the ball when it gets to him and actually attempts to play it, most of the time successfully, to one of our players rather, than just hoofing it for it to come back at us. Ryan, he aint, but he's a bloody good player. More like Bloor than Smithy.

Wollscheid shaky? I'll have a half of what you've been drinking in the first half Aluko did Wollscheid like a kipper on the byline when he really should have just put the ball out of play. Aluko just missed a goal but it was totally naive defending. I think Wollscheid is good part of back 4 but when hes one-on-one against a fast attacker hes a bit of a worry for me I agree Matt, Wolly had a really good game and his passing from the back is second to none. I just worry that in every game he's played there is a mistake in him, a lot like Wilson really. Aluko skinned him first half in a dangerous area and that could easily have been a goal. The longer he plays and settles I'm sure he'll do well and we really should get him permanently. At the moment though, there are areas of concern for me.

For 80 minutes wollo and Wilson didn't have a striker to mark and did it well. Bit harsh

A good performance against opposition who had come for the draw or to keep the scoreline down. As others have said on this board, if he can keep the consistency then he is a great asset.
As for Wolly it's tricky; does his good range of passing and decent positioning make up for his chronic lack of pace? For me if we do sign him he will probably be a good squad player. He could make it far, but we'd have to tailor his training to purely reacting in one-one situations and sprint speed because the rest of his game is totally there.

Won 2 or 3 key headers in the Hull cavalry charge in injury time too. One of our best performers today.

I may get shot down for this but I think he's bloody crap. Far far far too slow, as a self proclaimed centre mid he takes the easy route out far too often and plays a 2 yard ball when he's got acres of space to go into. Him and whelan today were the reason why we struggle against teams that park the bus as they are simply too slow. 5 touches to control a ball and 10 seconds to find a pass

Hull threw nothing at us. Not difficult to be a good defender against that shit. Christ, I'd have caused them both more trouble

Wolly was my motm today. So comfortable on the ball. His passses into midfield today were simple yet brilliant. Nzonzi was really good and got stuck in which was good to see.

Outstanding again yesterday as was Wolly. They're both solid players who do make the odd mistake. We shouldn't compare them to Ryan as they do there best and have more than earnt there place in the team.

Wolly looks that comfortable on the ball you could play him anywhere on the pitch and he'd retain possession. People have to remember centre backs are like keepers, they get better with age. I think he and ryan are going be great.
