If the club feels it can attract a decent income from sponsorship then I'd like to see the stadium called The (Insert Sponsor) Britannia and possibly drop the word 'stadium'.
Obviously, insisting that Britannia remains will probably put some sponsors off, or reduce the possible income.
I'm not sure that there is going to be a huge revenue stream from re-naming (didn't Britannia pay something like £1.5mill for 10 years)? If the possible income isn't significant then I hope that we just stay with The Britannia or if Coates wants some extra exposure/another avenue around FFP then The Bet365 Britannia.
We are lucky that 'Britannia Building Society' no longer exists, so there is nothing to stop SCFC retaining the name Britannia.

Absolutely no comparison. It's chance that the name is quite 'neutral' in that it doesn't immediately make people think of a Building Society. Lucky it's not called the WeBuyAnyCar.com stadium... I don't like the fact that Bolton's ground is no longer 'The Reebok'... The Macron Stadium just sounds shit.

On a similar note. When would the club have to give notification of intent to fill in one of the corners?. I was watching a game recently(cant remember who it was)where one or both of the corners had been filled and it looked quite smart. It might reduce the wind factor at The Brit?

I think I know which game you were watching where 1 or more corners were filled in, Was it Barcelona v Real Madrid at the Nou Camp...Hope this helps.

Whatever or whoever sponsors the stadium, if you like the name just simply calling it The Brit. If enough fans keep calling it the Brit the name will remain, whatever is etched on the side of the stadium.

I like the title Britannia and would not like to see it disappear or be abused, but I guess the world of filthy lucre will have it's way in the end.
A thought struck me on Saturday with the problem on the M6, "Is the Brit. the worst connected stadium in the Premier League?"
The stadium may be close to a motorway and in the "Midlands" but it's hell to get to/from by road and the M6 has it's issues, then there is rail (train, Metro, tube) connect to consider.

it should stay The Britannia Stadium. My heart sank originally when I heard it was a sponsor but it at least sounded good. Kind of regal connected like the Victoria Ground. Weve got used to it now and as pointed out The Britannia Building Society no longer exists. It isnt like we need the money. I hate it when clubs do this. It makes them look cheap no matter how big the club. The Etihad and The Emirates sound shit!!! Molineux is still Molineux, hawthornes still the hawthornes...even vale park stays the same and theyre broke!!!. Id love us stick with the name and for once say bollocks to the money.

Stoke stadiums will not be sponsored by bet365, Denise wants outside money coming into the club and not constantly Bet365 bank rolling the club. Britannia will be kept in some capacity as it's now a dissolved company so the Trademark associated with it is no longer there. The only reason Britannia will be removed is that the bid is large enough and in the clubs interests to so so

I'm not sure I care what the name is anymore. If we had stayed in boothen then I don't think it should ever be changed but it's just a sponsored name.To compare it to Vale park or the hawthorns which both have old traditional grounds is a bit daft.

The only reason Britannia will be removed is that the bid is large enough and in the clubs interests to so so Not quite sure a sponsorship deal would be classed as "bank rolling" the club. Over the past 10 years, betting firms are spending more and more on football sponsorships. Primarily because the clubs, grounds, backdrops at interviews etc are plastered over Sky Sports 24 hours a day and football betting brings in quite a few bob these days.

If enough money is offered, whatever the sponsor wants. It stopped being of any consequence once we moved from the Victoria Ground. Brittania is very recent in comparison.
Not even 18 years old, hardly iconic.

Apart from this season bank rolling the club is exactly what bet365 have been doing. Denise wants to reduce the amount the club rely on bet365, don't think spending even more money on sponsoring the ground is what she plans to do
