Knowing Stoke I wouldn't get too carried away, but you are right very winnable games.

Lets put things in perspective. Great result today to win the match in injury time, but the defence looked dreadful at times in the first half apart from Pieters who looks like he's injured. There are still a lot of players injured and Walters didn't look 100%. Villa looked to be one of the worst teams in the Prem. Yes there is a great opportunity to progress higher in the Prem table but let's take it a game at a time.

Understood. We do need to keep this perspective Villa are probably the worst team in the league.. Just trying to figure out how we can get to 51 pts. I didn't mean to imply that we'd would win ll 4. I just said they are all winnable because they're against teams well below us in the league. After that only 2 of the remaining 8 are against teams below us. 7 or 8 out of the next 12 available and then 8 or 9 out of tthe remaining 24 is doable, don't you think? Been a fan for over 50 yrs - need to be an optimist.

...between now and March 21. Â That's 48 points with 8 to play. Â If we stay healthy, why not? It never, ever works out that way. 52-54 points by the end of the season would be a top effort.

OK. Suggest we revisit this thread on May 24.

Yeah, we've a good record for losing to 'worst teams in the league' so yes, I will get carried away, if it's ok with everyone.

What's even better about the next 5 run is the games that West Ham and Newcastle have got...
Swans: Burnley, Spurs, Liverpool, Villa ... W,L,D,W, = 7 pts? Stoke: Hull, Everton, WBA, Palace ... W,L,W,D = 7 pts? WHam: Spurs, Palace, Chelsea, Arsenal ... L,D,L,L = 1 pt?! Newc: ManCity, Villa, MUTD, Everton ... L,W,L,D = 4 pts?
I think we could well overtake West Ham and go 9th, they have a horrible run of games coming up. I also think we can realistically be fighting for 8th place with Swansea. Exciting times!

Why do so many think we'll lose at home to Everton? They've been very poor this season, and will be fatigued with the Europa League... Lukaku has got back into form if he stays in form he'll cause some issues with our defence

Twelve games to play, 36 points added to the 36 we already have and Champions League is still a possibility.

Martinez has lost the dressing room so anything but a convincing win wouldn't be acceptable against Everton Other than that, let's take one game at a time.

Hull - Draw. could be another difficult game, they will park the bus. Given our problems in these type of games where we need to break teams down, I don't fancy us to win, but I don't fancy us to lose either.
Everton - Win. Everton are leaky at the back. I watched their game on Thursday and although they were class coming forward, they were lax at the back. If we can take our chances against them, we should be able to win.
West Brom - Win. OK, they have turned a corner under TP, but I fancy us to nick this one 1-0 as, even with Berahino, they struggle to make much upfront, we obviously know TP's game plan and we look good on the break. Wont be a classic though.
Palace - Draw. Same as Hull game really.

Even the top teams in this league struggle to win four games on the trot. If you include the Villa win in that little sequence that would be five wins in the trot and with the best will in the world that's just not going to happen.
If you gave me 8 points from the next four games, I'd take them now.

Lukaku has got back into form if he stays in form he'll cause some issues with our defence Disagree with you there. He may've scored a hat trick in the Europa League but he constantly missed chances, as he did vs Leicester. Very overrated player, imo Didn't see the game yesterday but heard he had a shocker I just think he's one of those players a bit like Adebayor and Jones if they're in the mood they can be a match winner

He also missed loads in Europe despite his three goals. He should have had 6. He's never given us trouble either. Sent from my GT-I8190N using proboards
