Choosing between two infuriating wide men is a hell of a selection problem!

SL&P latest news suggests Wilson, Ireland and Walters will make it, but it may well be a week too soon for Shawcross and Pieters.
So, on that basis, centre back remains a real problem. Do we bring in Wilko at right back and play Wilson in the middle and Bards out of position, or hope SNZ can plug the gap for one week, and at least play Bards in his more usual position, and have Wilko only as cover? What about the untried Jonny Tex? I reckon:
Begovic
Wilkinson Wollscheid Wilson Bardsley
Whelan N'Zonzi
Walters Ireland Moses/Arnautovic
Crouch

The back 4 looks a fragile as a old china cup.
For a team hoping to stay in the top 10 of English football Wilkinson shouldn´t be any near their first team.
Was a massive clanger letting Huth go but nobody could see the injuries coming.

Stick Arnie in for Crouch and shift Walters up front and id be happy taking to the field with that side at villa Dave, I was going on what I think Hughes will play. He is hardly likely to drop Crouch in his current goal scoring form. Personally, I'd drop Moses and play Arnie on the left - it might make Victor realise that he has to actually try a bit (at Blackburn he barely broke sweat) to retain a spot in the team. Id go with that as well. For me, away from home, crouch is tantamount to useless. I appreciate he scored but he was garbage on Saturday, more so even than the much maligned diouf

That should be good enough to get a result probably a draw.If Sherwood sends Villa out to attack as he intends to then we should be able to catch them on the counter.I think goals as our defence is crap without Ryan - Prediction 2-2 or even a goal feast 3-3.

guess how many injuries we will pick up against Villa:
These are the players we def have available for selection: Begovic, Bardsley, Whelan, Palacious, Moses, Nzonsi, Adam, Diouf, Sidwell, Teixeira, Wollscheid, Wilkinson, Shenton
Bego Bards - Nzonsi - Wolly - Tex Shenton - Whelan - Sidwell - Adam Moses - Diouf
sub: Wilkinson kit man: Palacious
I will go for 6 more injuries including the physio pulling a hamstring and going down with cramp and fatigue.

If we don't play Tex it begs the question as to why we signed him. He's 23 so no kiddie, left sided and supposed to be mobile.

He had a great game at Villa last season - one of his old clubs- and with all of his experience should be starting imo

I predict we are in for a twatting. H It's all scripted isn't it? Messiah, we've lost our last one, they've won and in the Cup Quarters. Hopefully the atrocious Villa will somehow snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Imo we won't get spanked, Hughes will be demanding a performance this week and as long as injuries don't have even more of an impact we'll be ok. Tight score draw

The back four is the big concern.
We look soft as shit without Ryan and we miss his leadership.
I reckon we need to get our shooting boots on as I think even Villa will score against us.

Essential to pick our goal scorers IMO as we expect to concede goals but not many. Walters and Crouch are also better helping out the defence.
Bego
Bardsley Wolf Wilson Pieters
Whelan N'Zonzi
Walters Ireland Moses
Crouch
Subs.: Butland Wilkinson Sidwell Adam Tex Arnautavic Shenton

I know it is important to score the first goal but I feel it is even more important in this game. We need to get the crowd quiet and subdue thoughts of revival, we also need the confidence boost.

Threadbare squad. Tim "The Twatter" Sherwood's first game and it lands at home. Semi-local derby. Benteke looking to prove a point...
Ah FUCK IT! We'll beat em 1-2!
