Lads,,
I know a few of you lot have an interest in MLS' newest side. Thought you might find the following interesting: 1) have sold @14,000 season tickets 2) have sold 40,000 tickets so far for their inaugural match on 8 March. 3) had 7,000 folks turn up for an open training session on Sarurday night 4) Kaka signed autographs for two hours after the training session. 5) Stoke Old Boys Martin Patterson and Lewis Neal are in the side.
Looks like the his "soccer" thing is catching on here in Florida. Hopefully we will see some of you lot NATA a match while you are over on your "hols".

The below info is from their site - Also search on google - 'orlando city groundbreaking' some good pictures of Phil Rawlins www.orlandocitysc.com/post/2015/02/07/thousands-attend-lions-open-practice-citrus-bowlORLANDO, FLORIDA – February 7, 2015 – Orlando City Soccer Club hosted a festive and vibrant open practice for fans Saturday night at the Orlando Citrus Bowl as the team continues to prepare for its inaugural Major League Soccer (MLS) matchup against New York FC on March 8. Afterward, Season Ticket Members enjoyed a special autograph session with all Orlando City players. But Former FIFA World Cup player Kaká delivered an unforgettable night for fans. Refusing to stop at the session’s predetermined time, Kaká continued to sign autographs and pose for photos with every single fan that patiently waited for nearly two hours – creating lifelong memories for Lions fans of all ages. The event, which was free to fans, provided an opportunity for everyone to enjoy a low-key soccer experience with family and friends. Thousands were on-hand to watch Coach Adrian Heath take the team through various exercises for nearly 90 minutes. “We’ll have to play with different positions a bit, but the team looked good today,” said Coach Heath. “Our biggest goal is getting everyone more minutes on the field and keeping them healthy and mentally prepared.” With a goal to reach 60,000 spectators for the March 8 matchup, the Lions have currently sold over 11,000 season ticket packages, and today, opened the sale of 2015 single-game tickets at the Citrus Bowl Box office. The team aims to top the sale of season-ticket packages at 14,000. "It was a fun and exciting evening for the thousands of fans who came out tonight. The whole community has been such an integral part of this team and tonight's event once again proved that passion," said Orlando City President and Founder Phil Rawlins. "The Citrus Bowl looked great and our fans really enjoyed the new stadium. All in all it was a good dry run for March 8th when we take on NYCFC and make history as we #FilltheBowl. It'll be electric and we look forward to seeing everyone there."

Impressive.
The real test is when the club has a bad season,if they can still attract decent numbers then then they have a real chance of long term success.

Do the 40,000 that have bought tickets know to cheer when the ball goes under the bar and not over?.

Do the 40,000 that have bought tickets know to cheer when the ball goes under the bar and not over?. Cute. Painfully accurate, but cute. It's catching on, though. MLS numbers have steadily increased, leading to the leagues decision to expand. Many more 'soccer' specific stadiums being built. We're getting there. I can tell you from personal experience, numbers at Toyota Park are typically very good, whether the Fire are playing well or not. And numbers over here watching the Premiere League have absolutely skyrocketed. Which is fantastic, if for no other reason than I now get to watch every single game.

F@ck off Bayern stealing my thunder, The Revs are your side! 28,000 seat stadium 100% privately funded, if that is not a big "go do one" to the State of Florida politicians I don't know what is! This new stadium is gonna be a beauty AND HAVE THE CORNERS FILLED IN! Glad I got my season ticket reserved, wonder if we can get a statue of Phil Rawlins out front?
