I worked in orthopaedic theatres some years ago and saw loads of total hips and knee replacements. I'm not sure if thats a good thing. which mate , my mrs's op or talking to Lawrie about his hips ? I meant watching other people have them. I'm sure that your wife feels much better for it.

Whoever thought of the different coloured parking bays in the South car Park? The old system of park anywhere, apart from a part reserved for disabled users, was far more effective. The present system is chaotic. Why doesn't the Chairman of the Supporters' Council take this up with the club?

Might I suggest a lateral solution? Since they block off the traffic on the slip road from the A50 onto the bridge by the hotel, why not go the whole hog and turn the bridge into a temporary dual carriageway? Traffic from the car parks down Gordon Banks Drive should go anti-clockwise at the roundabout, while cars from George Eastham Avenue go clockwise as normal. They both then filter seamlessly onto the bridge in an uninterrupted flow of traffic. Keep the lights on green and maintain the temporary arrangement for about 15 minutes. That should clear most of the traffic before reverting to normal systems. Lots of marshalls and signage should be able to make it work. They can even use their precious cones if it helps .

Next you'll be suggesting closing Sir Stanley Matthews Way down towards Newstead and making it one way for about half an hour after each match. Lunacy.

It worked ok for me until they blocked the lane off by the Lexus garage for no good reason.
And even before then it still wasn't as efficient as when the coppers did it, I could be gone in 10 minutes then.

It does, which, like any other good idea, will be instantly dismissed. Some lame excuse about 'not being able to close roads' or 'businesses in the area not supporting the road closures' will prevail. If I had a business on Trentham Lakes I would be more than happy to trial a half hour road closure (once a fortnight) to get rid of all the traffic rather than having my lorries stuck in gridlock for an hour and a half.
