Wilson - this guy had a shocker today, distribution is poor, if anything we should be getting rid of him rather than Huth
Wolf - looks ok but needs to play with a leader. A lot like mertesacker. Would make a good partner for Huth in shawcross absence. Huth shoukd be retained.
Muni- poor game today don't like him and wolf together at all. Happy for him to partner Huth or shawcross of play on the left in Pieters absence
Bardsley - dodgy we need a new rb prefer Geoff
For Newcastle I would play if shawcross is injured and Pieters is injured
Lb. Muni Cb wolf Cb Huth Rb Cameron
We really should be keeping Huth

I thought Muniesa had a cracking game. Lots of blocks and important headers. I know he isn't the finished article yet but I thought he did well today.
I reckon the defence struggled because the midfield disappeared in the second half.

What exactly did any of the centre halves do wrong? Full backs both dreadful though.

Have Wolly and Muni conceded a goal yet when paired together? I don't think they have.....

Didn't Wollshied and Munesia keep a clean sheet at Leicester and they didn't concede today as a pair. Whilst I acknowledge Huth is a top bloke I'm afraid no recent appearances and a lack of fitness means Im pretty happy with W & M thanks.

I thought Muni and Bardsley were good. Wolly ok. I'm fast approaching the stage where I don't want to see Marc Wilson in a Stoke shirt again though.

I thought Muni and Bardsley were good. Wolly ok. I'm fast approaching the stage where I don't want to see Marc Wilson in a Stoke shirt again though. Thought Bards had a really solid game. Muni did OK but was a bit outmuscled at times. Wolly was alright but takes a few too many risks for me but it's nothing that can't get sorted. Wilo was probably the weakest link but he wasn't terrible. What was evident was that as a unit we look decidedly soft without Ryan.

Muni was, so so for me. At times to eager to get in front of his man. There was an incident in the second half when he completely misread what he was attempting to and left Zamora unmarked, rather amateurish IMO. Great player to have but needs to settle down a bit for me.

Right if we're slagging players then......The back four were fine. Whelan was my MOM. N'zonzi was fcuking shit. .....

I think Wollschied looked class, and his passing is superb. I think he could turn out to be a gem.

Wolly was very effective today. Distribution was comfortable, won most (all?) of his headers, never panics. Class tackle on the right hand side in the box in the second half, playing onto their player to get a goal kick.
But Whelan had a right go at him in th 80th minute? Presumably for not closing down the attacker who got a shot away...
Muni was good, no worries. Was caught in the full back position a few times though...

already been criticised before the game for doubting the wisdom of playing Wilson instead of Muni, but it turns out I was right after all.

I thought Herr Wolly was outstanding. Great at reading the game, loads of short, fast accurate passing and links up with all around him.
For me just needs to get greater distance on his clearance headers as occasionally they were dropping only a few yards outside of our box.
Overall a solid 8/10 from me.

Wolly and Muni did well for me. Wilson had another poor game, why does he insist on an extra touch every time he gets the ball and still distributes it abysmally. Bardsley hasn't convinced me that he's any better,or even as good as Cameron in that role. If Ryan is fit and Pieters ditto then would Muni, Shawx, Wolly, Pieters work?

I thought Nzonzi was terrific. Won loads in the air, made more passes than anyone else (and more attacking third passes) and three of our top six passing combos involved him. Kept the ball when we were under the cosh and found players well.

Wollscheid is a different type of centre half than we and the team are used to. We're used to aggressive stoppers that will step out and attack the ball. Wollscheid is your typical ball playing covering defender that will step back two yards or so and sweep up behind a more aggressive partner. Brilliant foil for Shawcross but too similar to Muniesa. Hence Whelan's frustration in the second half.
They both did well though in Shawcross' absence.
Wilson just baffles me. I haven't got a clue what he is trying to do half the time.

I like the German lad but he needs someone in there with him more experienced to help him shoutat him. Wilson was garbage. I love muni but though Zamora had him on toast today in the second half. Beardsley had one of his better games but he's dodgy as they come. If shawcross is out the replacement is huth for me

Nzonzi is our most important player with Shawcross. He is the one player we would really struggle to replace. I think he'd fit into most the top teams

Thought the defence were good today.
Muni and Wolly were fantastic.
Wolly so far has been nothing but a class act.

Everyone saying Huth should come back in, isn't he banned? Huth is not the answer. I love the big German youth but our game now is so reliant on our centre halves receiving the ball short from the keeper and that's not in his game. It wasn't in Ryan 's game But he's had a season and a half of practice now so he is incredibly comfortable on the ball but unfortunately due to Huth's injury he missed out on adding that to his game. The main reason Wilson was playing there for so long was due to his ability on the ball. It's also very apparent that this is one of the reasons we went for Wolly who is excellent on the ball.
