According to Sparky when talking to Mr Stoke City, there doesn't seem to be the likelihood of any new signings. If that is the case, I'm not particularly bothered. With our present squad, we've already beaten Arsenal at home, Man City away, Spurs away, Everton away, held the Shite to a draw at home, beaten teams around us or held them to a draw, lost to some we should have won- man City/Everton/Spurs would have expected to bet us on their own patch-and were 9th in the Prem. If we expect to be among the top 'elite' teams, we have to be prepared to spend hundreds of millions of pounds to compete, pay more for our season tickets, possibly bankrupt the club, and then never lose a game. I'm happy to be playing for a place in the top half of the 'best' league in the world, with a chance of breaking into the top clique, churning out results I never dreamed I'd live to see. I'd rather spend my money watching lads like Jon Walters, Ryan Shawcross, Muni, Ireland, in fact ALL the lads that are currently wearing red and white, who play for us, who play and fight for the flag, who play for those thousands of us that keep on turning up every week to cheer them on.

Your forgetting the injuries though so we're not the team that beat Man C, Spurs etc that's why we need cover.
I don't think anyone's expecting us to spend like the big clubs and we don't need too. MH has already proved you can buy quality on a budget.

We need a couple in. I won't believe we're signing nobody until it's actually confirmed after the window shuts. Still think we'll get a winger in on loan.

We would be fine if all our squad was fit. Actually I don't believe anything that any manager says during the transfer windows, none of themare likely to reveal valid targets. We will be alright barring a complete disaster and huge turn around by other teams. However if we are to be top ten or push on we do need strengthening in some areas. Not talking about wholesale changes but one or two positions, clearly if the right calibre of player isn't available to buy, we should be looking at loan options

I do however take your point, but the same applies to every other team.I'm not saying I wouldn't like a couple more signings, but won't panic if we can't manage them, Diouf was on the bench today by the way.Boyan will be hard to replace, but other than that, we have pretty good cover. Ireland had a very good game up being taken off.

If he says we're after 5 players and we get none, he's going to look a right tit, whereas in saying it's unlikely that there'll be any new signings, he's just managing expectations. 'Arry's not the only manager you shouldn't believe during the transfer window. They're all the same.

I think we are looking for one or two extra players in the areas we all know they are require. I just think that Sparky, quite rightly, is keekeeping his cards close to his chest.

I'm not saying we're the perfect team, just that we don't need to panic.

What's the word on Ryan and will this change anything in regards to HUTH?

We managed because we had a magician playing out of his skin who emerged just as Moses' injury issues kicked in. We don't have that now.

I believe my club is well managed and making huge strides to improve in all aspects of the business.
I'm sure the club make every effort to improve the strength of the playing squad at every transfer window, but are not prepared to pay ridiculous prices or destroy the company wage structure.
Yes we need to cover for injuries, but we don't need 3 players for every position and can't afford or be allowed anyway. Today we had Diouf, Sidwell, Cameron, and Butland sat on the bench. I'm not surprised MH is moving Huth out of the club to get game time. We have others out on loan and youngsters waiting their chance.
So if the club don't make any new signings it's for good reasons IMO.

I thought his radio Stoke interview was quite superb to be honest.
I share the love in for bojan but my god I don't half love mark Hughes as well.
He's just brilliant. He's honest, he's ambitious, he talks up our club and its players, he's respectful of the traditions of our club and the achievements of those before he arrived and he calls a game exactly as it was.
He is truly a breath of fresh air.
I loved his comments about our season to date. Not bulling it up but stating we are where we expected to be and are well placed to achieve our targets for the season.
No managing expectations, no talk of 40 points and no dumbing down of things to make his own efforts look better than they are.
Mark Hughes red and white army!
Edit - and his efforts to date this season have been remarkable given the injuries that have blighted our season. He's not mentioned it once!
