Amazing we win 3-1 and all the Oatcake wanna be managers criticise Hughes. No just substitutions that made life difficult for us and lost us pace, allowing them to attack. A win is a win, doesn't mean we are not allowed an opinion especially on a forum set up for that purpose. It changes nothing.

I thought the subs were the right ones. Arnie had no end product and Jon was the correct choice to shore up that side. QPR were getting a foothold (due to a poor spell from us and Mr Dean lending a hand) and Crouch held it up quite well. Our problems stemmed from Ryan going off injured as we looked soft as shit at the back without him. Would you not have preffered Diouf on the right with Walters remaining in the middle. It would have stopped the coming forward so easily.

Honestly, having let Assaidi go, Bojan injured and moving others on and having hardly spent the square root of fuck all for two years if we dont freshen in this window then its bonkers. Hughes has done a magificent job with what he has but he is doing it with one arm tied behind his back

Ireland set up Walters twice in the first half. Its mystifying why he would take Ireland off and shift Walters out onto the wing. Absolutely no need for it Ireland was absolutely fucked and the substitution made perfect sense. Taking Arnie off made sense as well particularly as asmir was struggling kicking against the wind and Arnie was getting frustrated by an inability to win an aerial battle with Hill. I'd have bought diouf personally but he didn't get back until yesterday and perhaps Hughes wasn't sure about his physical condition.

That hindsight thing again. No doubt if Diouf had come on and mis controlled a pass or Sidwell had come on and gave a free kick outside the box, there'd be the same thread.

I was thinking about Diouf later on in the game if we were comfortable. We were far from than so Crouch was a sensible option (and he did well.)

Is it just me, or would anybody else have liked to see Arnautovic stay on?

I thought they were shocking.
Arnie was beating Hill time and time again, so he takes him off and puts Walters out there who was never going to give Hill any problems and he never did.
And with that you've had Walters who's got Richard Dunne in his back pocket not against Dunne and you've got Crouchy playing against the slowest defence in the world. It needed Diouf.
And he took Ireland who I thought was MOM and he was definitely one of our better players.
His subs confuse the fuck out of me and they very nearly lost us 2 points today.

Subs were excellent and did their job.Crouch held the ball up higher on the pitch,Walters on the right was more defensive than Arnie.Granted Adams wasn't great but we still scored another goal and won the game. Ergo they were good substitutions. We won 3-1 you know.
