Can't say I dis-agree with the sentiment. We need to bring the average of the squad down. Especially if we wanted to balance the books by reselling players. Buying players under 25 will be far more beneficial long term, especially if we want to sell them too. I was hoping with being linked with the likes of shaqiri, bakkali, roberto, traore. That we would be looking at building a younger squad to kick on together. I can honestly say the thought of another two years with crouch and Whelan as regular starters is disheartening. We need to move forward, other players have shown their quality but this idea we have players that are either work horses or skill full is complete nonsense as we have seen with the Spanish pair. Hopefully this will change in the summer as the days for Adam and Whelan in a midfield role or crouch as a static forward on his own should be numbered Why 25 though??

Jonathan Pearce is one of Tony Pulis' best friends. This, clouding his judgement...............much?

Last week they were saying our away form was poor, now he's suggesting we have struggled at home.
It's amazing how we are halfway up the league really isn't it.
Or are these pundits just talking ill-informed bollocks?
I don't know which one to plump for...

typical tv "expert"... knows fuck all about the game, but can read a list of names off a script, and a few bits of info about the player....you've only got to elook at the fat cunt to see he's never kicked a ball..............if it was an article about pie and chips, id value his judgement

Not in the least bit concerned. There are a couple of players over 30, but they are still playing well and we can replace twice a year.
25 is a pretty arbitrary cut off IMHO.

Always thought that Pearce had not got a clue about football. One of the worst commentators around and that takes some doing because they're a pretty lousy bunch in general, very much like premiership refs!

This looks to me that he needed to say something about Stoke, and came up with this. What a load of bollocks, our early home form has caused the stats to look like that, our recent games have been ok. The best Premiership teams are not populated with 11 23 year old's, but a mix of experience and youth. Players come and go, but I would expect MH and the Club would be looking to bring in players who would add something but also have a resale value, which would point to a younger profile coming in anyway. As a bonus if we can get the likes of Ollie Shenton coming through the ranks we will be in good shape. Personally I think when everyone is fit this is the strongest Stoke squad I can remember, and that includes the early 70's sides

A not very balanced article and why can't we count Bojan. I'd say we're being sensible. None of the older players are on silly 5 year contracts and with our general tactics to buy young, things can change very quickly. A lot of our squad have joined over the last 2 years and with an average of 2-3 a window come back in 2 years and it'll have changed a lot again. I'm a lot happier with the age of the squad now than I was 2-3 years ago. As long as the first 11 isn't too top heavy with ageing players well be ok and it isnt.
Bego under 30
Bards under Ryan under Wolf under Muni or Eric under
NZonzi under Whelan over (but I can see him becoming more of a squad player in time)
Arni under Bojan under Moses under (if he stays) Odom over
Diouf under
Look at it a few years back at the time
Sore over
Wilson under Ryan under Huth under Griffin over
Matty over Rory over Whitehead over Pennant under
Mama over Ric over

3rd oldest squad in the Prem 2014/15 according to this report, not a whole lot in it in truth though. I think you need a few real men for what it's worth Manchester City 29,2 Queens Park Rangers 28,6 Stoke City 28,3 Leicester City 28,2 West Bromwich Albion 28,2 Everton FC 28,1 Burnley FC 27,9 Sunderland AFC 27,8 Crystal Palace 27,5 Hull City 27,4 West Ham United 27,4 Aston Villa 26,7 Chelsea FC 26,7 Swansea City 26,2 Tottenham Hotspur 26,2 Liverpool 26,0 Manchester United 26,0 Arsenal FC 25,9 Newcastle United 25,6 Southampton 25,3 That is another list West Brom will be topping soon. As for Pearce he is talking utter horseshit.

Pearce should stick to Robot Wars. He's an awful commentator who calls nearly every reffing decision wrong and is far too opinionated for a commentator too. The sooner the BBC drop him the better.

I would say that the squad is in its prime ....???????? Totally agree. Maybe Crouchy's past his best, but certainly not his sell-buy date. Walters and Whelan are in their pomp.

Total bollocks. Its not a concern at all. This is a solid stable club with an excellent manager who will be here for years and who has already been introducing a couple of new young players each season. And to suggest today should be a draw is a joke We are a far better side than Them.true we might fuck up aGainst a shit team again but why such a downer about stoke?
