Interesting.
But is he just another Owen / Gudjonsen type? A top class player, but past it.
Done nothing much since 2011 and after a disappointing couple of years at Inter is now in Japan. There's a reason for that. Could he raise his game, at the age of 35, to do the business in the Premier League? Recent history suggests probably not. But you never know.
We're not going to get the perfect player as a stop gap - so we shouldn't look for perfection. So he may be the man.

We are a mid table Premiership club, we are now in the top 30 of richest clubs in the world, shouldn't we be trying to sign better younger players?

35 - way past his best in terms of fitness I imagine... bojan role requires a high energy player. I'm hoping Ireland seizes this chance.

He hardly pulled up any trees when he was last in the Prem, and that was surrounded by the likes of Keane, Ronaldo, Scholes and Van Nistlehorse and he was 13 years younger and a lot fitter. Car Crash signing for me.

Good player in his day but way past his prime now.
We don't need another final pay day player.
If we run out of transfer window, which it looks likel we will, move Ireland into Bojans role and put him on speed. Hey presto!
Ireland needs to step up and this is his golden chance.

Definite no for me too.
I'd give Ireland the job and use the teat of the window to bolster the rest of the team!

Staying fit and in contention to play seems to be a big problem for Ireland though. That said, if we could land another winger in the window, be it on loan or permanently, then Moses would prove a handful in that position behind the striker, we know that Walters can do it (so long as it isn't behind Crouch), Arnie could do it as could Adam though he would be my least preferred option.

What has Ireland done to say that he's gonna do anything half decent week in week out?
The only solution is to bring someone in a short loan/contract.

One thing for sure, we're going to miss his passing.

He's another one of those players who's great coming on for 20-30 mins but whenever he starts games he's not so good. If we are going to use him in Bojans position he really needs to start performing for 90 mins.

He was very good at the back end of last season and instrumental in lots of the good performances that we had. If Ireland can stay fit, something he hasn't been able to do either this season or last, then we have a very good player in our ranks. If he doesn't stay fit, we have Walters, Moses, Arnie and even Diouf who could play behind a striker. We need a wide player more than we need a replacement for Bojan in my opinion as an extra wide player would give us better options from the bench and more flexibility in terms of utilising the players mentioned above.

Bojans position is the one place on the pitch that allows us to have flare. Ireland/adam don't have that flare.
Ireland constantly goes missing in games and is injury prone, so why would he be a better option than forlan or one of the barca lads?

Stay well clear. Only managed a handful of goals in J League last year, his team got relegated and he then publicly blamed the supporters.
Very good player in his prime, but finished now.
