Seems a bit weird having a manager in contract talks after having Tone on his rolling contract for so long! I'd not given it any thought.

I hope we get this sorted.
He has been very impressive, what I have liked most about him has been the way he has evolved the style at the same time as embracing what he found at the club when he arrived.
The confidence he has in our players 'a lot of people didn't give us a chance at Man City but we never subscribed to that point of view' must be a real boost to the team.
Heaven only knows what happened to him at QPR, guess we will never really know, but as he said to judge his entire career by a dozen games at the start of a season at QPR was never really fair. But I'll be the first to admit it did spook me a bit but I was wrong.

What happened at QPR is what happened to Warnock and Redknapp. QPR is a badly run club with a culture that attracts the attention of agents who know Fernandes doesn't know how to run a club, so offload work shy mercenaries, with no team spirit. That club is doomed, especially when Fernandes has spent enough of his fortune on a lost cause. Hughes did well everywhere else. His city stint was doomed after they changed owners, being sacked after a win against Tottenham and being on target with their first seasons goals of getting in the Champions league. He was sacked, before January, with city in 5th.

Now he's gained the boards trust after the QPR fiasco it'll be nice see the board give him the money they have Pulis and see who he can attract...

Would any Stoke fan take Mancini over Hughes now I wonder?

Nothing to worry about. Sir Peter knows a good thing when he sees one, Pulis and Hughes are all the proof you need.

How does this news affect some on here?
Lately we've had what if hughes leaves and all the barca players will want leave
we've had, we can't expand the stadium in case hughes leaves.
bloody hell some on here haven't slept lately. I mean, what if you're driving work tomorrow and a boeing 747 comes down on your roof?

Great news, think Sparky is very settled here. More so than he ever has been and think he will do wonders for us in the next few seasons!

Would any Stoke fan take Mancini over Hughes now I wonder? He was hard done by, but he must have seen it coming. There's no way an oil sheikh is going to buy a new toy without making the big decisions like who the manager is going to be. As for Mancini; would any premier league team want him? City won the Premiere league, simply by throwing money at it, but that season was really a disaster for city in all other respects and were lucky that united lost the last few games. With in fighting, Tevez taking a golfing vacation, mid season, then Mancini going cap in hand to get him to play again, after declaring Tevez was done at the club. Mancini is the worst man-manager I have ever witnessed. Hughes' managerial style is really the future of football. He applies a Moneyball approach to player selection; scientific, with detailed skills assessment of his own players, available players and the opposition, as well as the sports management that tailors training to the individual players, where they have performance assessments and work on where the individual player needs to improve, instead of the old school regimes, where players each take a turn at doing something, like a set piece, including all doing the same warm up and warm down. With his Stoke budget, his options are limited as far as meeting the required strengths from every player, but given a long-term commitment and an adequate (not excessive) budget, I believe he could turn a team like Stoke into a top 4 team.

Mark must be happy with us. He's regained his reputation after the debacle of Redknapp relegating QPR and leaving Fulham too soon. He was never a crap manager. the peaks and troughs of managing are fickle mistress. Problem is you have one job that doesn't work out and you are destroyed forever. It's good SCFC had the bollox to fly in the face of fashion and make the appointment. Good for us and him. Carry on Mark.
