To be printed for quantitive easing within the eurozone , it's so that countries like Spain and Greece can start borrowing again

What's the odd trillion between friends Harry? I suppose they look at quantitive easing and see how the UK has benefitted from it and think they'll have some of the same. The Euro zone economies are so much more complicated though you can see it all ending in tears.

True billy , It's hard to see how this will help without structural reform within the eurozone

Harry won't the wheels will come off today if Greece votes in an anti-austerity government?. So, so glad we didn't join this mess but don't expect it to stay that way if the Looney Red Ed gets in through the back door in May.

I wouldnt blame the Greek electorate one bit lawrie if they did vote for that . They have suffered hugely , especially public employees for the stupidity of previous governments and the lack of fiscal control from the ECB

Why print new notes, Why not stop burning the old ones instead?

Quantitative easing should not even be the last resort - it should just never even be on the cards in the first place. Deflation and recession are an important equilibrium and balancing factor in market economics.

They have suffered hugely , especially public employees for the stupidity of previous governments and the lack of fiscal control from the ECB These are the public employees who do hardly any work, have long holidays, earn more than the private sector and retire 10 years earlier than the rest of the population? Give me a break. The public sector throughout Europe has done exceptionally well for itself over the last 15 years or more. Your sympathy should be directed at the low paid private sector. In the UK I have a small amount of sympathy for the lower paid public sector but absolutely none for senior management and their quangos and consultants...they have been raping the public purse for years with hardly any accountability.Huge pay rises introduced by Tony Blair to the public sector were not necessary and, along with public-private initiatives, have led to a corruption of their values. I am not a Tory but their efforts to reduce the number of quangos set up by Labour is to be applauded..(not sure how successful they have been). The public sector pension arrangements have also been scaled back..I can see why people are upset, especially with little or no pay rises but compared to private sector pay and conditions they still have it much better.

So all the nurses , teachers, bus drivers not being paid and having their homes repossessed are in a mess of their own making . Not to mention the fact most of the pharmacies went bust because the government won't pay for the prescriptions . So no medicine for the most vulnerable .
