The Wembley of the North's pitch is looking good! The Spurs keeper looks like the kid you put in goal when there's no one else. Shorts way too high up!

Ha. I went to that Spurs game as a naive kiddie. Can't believe it was 27 years ago! I have the same confession to make, I was dragged along by a couple of Vale supporting associates. And WORST OF ALL we stood at the front of the Bycars and in the Vale program for the league match which followed it there were action photos from the Spurs cup tie and I could be clearly seen in one of the pictures

The same keeper that played a couple of games for us in the 92 season, I want to say he played in the 4-3 game v West Brom and had a mare but memory is deserting me?

I too was at that game as a young 23 year old, standing in the Lorne St somewhere. I remember coming out at the end onto Hamil Road and a big shout of " Cam on then Vale" went up and about 2000 Vale scarperred as fast as they could up the road. Must admit I was one of them as the area just cleared of locals and a huge mob of Spurs took the area. I am 100% sure Stoke would have stood their ground but vale shat their pants that day. I only ran cos I wasn't going to take them on in the name of PVFC haha.

The Vale fans coming out from the Lorne Street stand came under a hail of loose masonry which the Spurs fans had gathered up from the desolate waste land that was the Hamil Road end. In fairness you would have had to be clinically insane to hold your ground under the barrage of rocks and stones they came under.

I can't remember the barrage of bricks and stones but I'm sure your probably right. It was a bit ugly outside and you had to be on your toes. The Spurs mob were, as you say, not at all chuffed about being turned over by a Ray Walker goal.
You couldn't make out who was who outside other than aggressive North London accents everywhere trying to get it to kick off. I thought, hey best get out of here quick as I had no confidence in the great unwashed backing me up if I had waded in, not that I would of course.
Mind you I was a good looking, fit as a butchers dog, Serviceman in those days so in the interests of preserving my bird pulling good looks I took the cowards way out and did a Usain up the road with the rest of them :0)
