I don't think he meant to hurt him but to say that it wasn't a push or he was just protecting himself is very disingenuous. A fellow professional is now going to miss a month of football and perhaps need surgery because of this action. Have you actually seen it or have you just been pissed all day? Look at Debuchy's speed before contact and tell me where the intent was for contact because it was not from Arnie.

Saw it with neutrals who had same opinion as me. I also saw the way Shawcross played the game and thought he was exemplary, today - especially the way he handled Giroud pushing him, i think a lot of players would have taken the option to try and get a sending off and also his superb tackle on Alexis.

i thought it was a slight push more of an exasperated thing that an attempt to make he go down, there was no venom or intent in it and had there not been a slope and those very sturdy advertising things in his path no injury would have occured I'm amazed that there are not a lot more serious injuries at grounds where the grass slopes away beyond the goal / sidelines and then the hoardings (solid structures in most cases) are so near! Even more of a slope at Man Utd The injury was caused by his collision into the boards - Arnie did make a rather robust shoulder charge - which would probably have been a free kick in play imo Surely there should be a minimum distance between the pitch and surrounds

You are spot on about Shawcross, the thing about the Arnie thing is that he shrugged Debuchy off rather than just push him, he nevr meant to hurt him, it was the slope of the astro turf and the fact Debuchy ( and quite a few arse players) are not physically built to challenge anything. I'm sure thats why they have so many injuries - If we were physical there would be players from other teams moaning but its only ever Arsenal

Ridiculous slope on the Arsenal pitch is what caused the dislocated shoulder not Arni just guarding himself from a defender already off the ground clattering into him.

If Arsenal fans knew anything about football they would direct any anger they are capable of showing, (after a few too many Pimms of course), at a manager who has conned them into thinking that finishing fourth every year,in order to qualify for a competition they have no hope of winning but lines the pockets of the shareholders, is more successful than winning a domestic trophy. The fact that he has conned them with deception for so long proves once again that Arsenal fans know the square root of feck all about football.

It was a clear push. Anyone who says different is delusional. But there was no intent to hurt, and that kind of play happens in every game. Very unfortunate that it causes a serious injury, but it just as easily could have happened to one of our men so I am not losing sleep over it.

They are seriously deluded, they seem to think that the imposing, brick shithouse that is er.. Matthieu Flamini would be able to sort Ryan out... Pisser!! "@bilalkabdani - Very impressed with how the players reacted on all the fouling and shithousing by Stoke today. I cannot describe in words how much Ryan Shawcross annoyed me - he's par with John Terry at the moment. I would've probably brought on Flamini just to take him out. Oh well. Referee was quite shit again too. Up The Arsenal!" Even Bojan would bury that clown.

My problem with the Giroud thing isn't the fact he slapped him. It was a nothing incident. I find it uncomfortable knowing that a similar situation reversed from a Stoke player would have resulted in a MOTD dressing down with Monkey Keown giving his biased sly opinion on proceedings. It stinks and it's the typical media bias that annoys managers and players of clubs outside the top 4 (see Sean Dyche's comments)
