(s). Crouch and Diouf. Bojan isn't a centre forward, not in this league anyway. Neither is Walters. Lol (s) that's a little pedantic, I have always used the North American spelling. Bojan's goalscoring record speaks for itself, and if Walter's isn't a striker then I don't know what he is. But I am talking about strikers, and you are referencing the centre forward, so you will probably pull me up on that as well;-) However, I think we could be at crossed purposes, as I have posted previous, the players Hughes has signed don't seem to fit his system. If we're talking about players to lead the line, we have two players currently fit who are capable of doing that. Hence we need another.

We need pace, skill and goals from our forwards. We have too little of all those commodities available to us at present. PGN seems to have quite a bit of all of those in him, and is still young enough to get better, so he can play left, right, central, wherever he damned well wants to, if he substantially adds to our limited fire power in front of goal.

Well yes Diouf can't do it, even Crouch hasn't managed it in our last two games. I can't say I really know whether Walters would be effective, or Bojan for that matter. My initial post was regarding Diouf though, and I am still non the wiser regarding his signing or position. But agreed we could do with another, but it has to be the right player to compliment what we have.

Yeah, my point was that we need another regardless of whether Diouf can be considered a success or a failure. Signing another striker doesn't necessarily mean the manager is writing Diouf off.

With links to Bakkali and Ntep, it is clear we are looking at young, pacey, versatile forward players, which can only be a good thing.

What about signing another centre forward ;-) In all seriousness, I don't think we will sign anyone unless we ship people out, we have a large squad as it is. However, with Brendan being short of a keeper, you never know, and for me, if Bojan is to be our no 10, then a goalscorer must head up Hughes' wish list.

With this and the rumour of interest in the Brentford striker, is Hughes himself accepting that the Diouf signing is not going to work out. I can help Hughes out here, Diouf is never and will never be a Premiership quality striker, he's a shocking player and to think we were rumored going to pay a transfer fee is farcical.

Haha my feelings exactly mate. We dodged a bullet with the fee, but Hughes can't pick a striker?

Diouf off to ACN He's doing OK at the moment, especially being pushed out wide. Still adjusting to the Prem imo He should have adjusted by now, considering hes played in the prem before.

That is exactly the point though isn't it, Hughes has signed players who don't seem to fit his preferred system. I remember having the same debate weeks ago. We have a good team in there somewhere, for me we need to stick our proven top class goalscorer up front and build the team/system around him. We need a proper alternative to Crouch though (and, who knows, Crouch may be keen to move to a London club if something happens over the next month). It looks like he thought Diouf could handle the demands of playing yp front on his own - and we haven't seen much to back that up yet, and he keeps having to cling to his Crouch safety blanket. Isn't Diouf playing wide because of injuries?

How can a player adjust when he is being moved from centre forward, to right wing, to in behind, to left wing and any combination thereof?
He hasn't had a decent run in any position.

I like Diouf and I think he will come good, but would I would like to us to sign a out and out goal scorer not another striker come winger type player.

Diouf cant seem to trap a bag of cement, thats got nothing to do whether hes playing wide or up top.
If I was Hughes in training I would just have Diouf learn how to control a goddam football.
Twat balls to him constantly at different heights until he learns how to do it. Pretty basic skill to master for a professional footballer with nothing else to do all week.
If you fix this then I think he could come good for us as the lone striker

Think any amount of money in the region of 9,10 million would be more beneficial to the team if we could sign Moses on a permanent deal than untried strikers that could be massive flops

He isn't a striker. He's predominantly a wide forward like Moses and Odemwingie.

He would be a great addition, with regards to Diouf then if any Premiere League manager can pick a strikerbit should be Hughes. Let's wait until we get a more settled side (less injuries) before we rush to judgement.
