Shawcross and Cahill. It would be great see them in the national team playing together
and 3 best defenders in the PL playing (Shawcross, Cahill and Ivanovic)

That might be Ryan's best ever game for us, with the most lethal striker in the country kept in his back pocket all night.

I thought Ryan had one of his poorer games I thought he was at fault for the 2nd goal. He was with Fabregas and then let him drift off him while trying to tell others what to do. Fabregas got a lucky touch and it completely wrong footed Ryan and that was it then. Other than that I thought he was solid. Won plenty of headers and really wound Costa up, quite clearly we took the Sunderland approach to dealing with him tonight.

Ryan had a decent game again, but I think he was dragged a bit out of position for the second goal. You could see he moved too much to the left so he opened the channel for the pass quite early. He also gave away a great chance to Costa in the first half when he gambled on an offside.

Terry was the best defender on the pitch Hate to admit it but based on this week's game, spot on. I'd settle for him and Shawcross, rather than Cahill.

imo i can see pressure getting to Ryan if he gets another call up. he had a shocker last time against a world class player and took alot of flack.
Id rather keep him fresh at stoke and prevent injury and fatigue.
But on the flip side, it would look good on his CV and can add a few extra pennies to his market value if we was ever to replace him.
I can see us loosing some key players over the next few seasons.

No wonder the national team is so bad then. A few years ago it was Rio and Terry.

No wonder the national team is so bad then. A few years ago it was Rio and Terry. Yep, how I long for all the International success we had back then. I don't think we've had an English defender in the past 20 years that would get ranked in the European top 10. At the moment, we'd struggle to get one in the top 30.

You dont think Rio Ferdinand and John Terry were in the top 10 defenders in Europe?!
