On every possible measure it's Jon Walters so far.

Victor Moses. No he hasn't played recently , no he isn't permanent. No, he is not my favorite.
But, when you look at the season 'so far' what has he done? Best wing play by far Best defense from a forward player Creativity, speed, desire. Top three in all. When stoke wasn't playing the best he was consistently good.
Bojan, SJW, Shawcross are all amazing. But, so far Moses played the best.

For me we have four in the running: Ryan. Fonzy. Bojan. Walters.

Any player of the year thread always has to start with the question "Has anyone played better than Ryan?"
Over the course of the whole season, I don't think anyone has, so it's Ryan for me. But up until his injury, I'd have said Moses was walking it.

Walters/Shawcross/Bojan/Moses/Nzonzi have impressed more often than not so one of them for me.

If you went on consistent performances over all games played then its got to be SJW at this stage of the season. That may change after 30 games if some of the leading contenders are still with us. Walters is doing well but he had some poor games as well.

Bojan has provided more memorable and enjoyable moments in a handful of games than anyone in a Stoke shirt for 30 odd yrs, for that reason alone, he's walked it. Are you on crack?

Top 5: add Walters and Cameron

I'd go for Bojan even though Ryan has been a more consistent performer. Why? Well he's come in and lit the place up after a tough start. He is our creative spark and everything we do well going forward seems to go through him. Creating and scoring goals is the most difficult part of the game and when he gets on the ball we look dangerous.
Tonight he might find it tough against Matic and co. but he's still our number one threat, especially with Moses out.

I like Moses and I hope we can sign him permanently but his major weakness is his defensive play. It isn't that he can't tackle (he doesn't have Adam's disease!) but he does sometimes "switch off" completely when it comes to defensive duties. In some ways it is a pity we didn't still have Ethers at the club - he knows more about defensive duties for a winger, than many wingers will ever know. To be fair, a lot of it was what TP taught him. If we do sign Moses permanently we should get him looking at video's of Etherington's defensive highlights - hopefully some of Ethers' ability will rub off on Moses. I'm gob smacked that he's been at Wigan, Liverpool and Chelsea and learned very little about an important part of the game.

He looks like he can't be bothered to track back. For all the good things Moses has done there has been a lot of dross thrown in as well. Still would be a good permanent signing though.

1= Ryan. 1 = SJW. 3rd Bojan. But as others have mentioned, Bojan had awful start and if he continues like the last 7 or 8 games, then it is his to loose.

I don't think anyone is winning it by the 'Country Mile' that some seem to think. At this moment it is (IMO) very close between Ryan, Walters and Bojan. I'd probably (just) give it to Ryan because he's doing a sterling job in a pretty shaky defence but the other two have made a superb contribution too. Moses would probably walk it if he had not got injured and continued in the same form. There's half a season to go so plenty of time for someone to make their mark.

Squad half term report
Bego - 6.5 - not been at his best, hopefully re-find that form 2015 Bardsley - 7 - steady defender, we have lost GCs ambition going forward though Shawcross - 9 - has carried a very rocky defence so far this season single handed Wilson - 6 - his mistakes cost goals alas Pieters - 6 - not as good as last year so far, looks like struggling with persistant injury Muniesa - 7 - been promising when on, want him to have a run at CH if no Huth
Cameron - 6.5 - works hard, looked impressive in recent weeks at DCM. Deffo not a centre half at this level, but a steady right back as cover Whelan - 7 - lynchpin of Hughes formation when fit NZonzi - 7 - up and down, his relationship with Bojan is going to be exciting 2015 Ireland - 4.5 - not sure what he adds to the squad, Sidwell ahead of him Sidwell - 6 - some good, some bad, prob needs a run of games not 20 min sub appearances Bojan - 8.5 - took a while, but one of the most exciting players I have seen at Stoke for a long time - ask me again in April!
Moses - 7 - exciting to watch but suffers from lack of end product, missed at the min! Arnie - 6 - not himself at the start of the season, encouraging last couple of cameos Walters - 8 - reinvested himself this season, a surefire pick when fit Diouf - 6 - pace to burn, misses a lot of chances! Assaidi - 4 - poor when played, not the same player
Crouch - 7 - decent from Crouchy so far, played his way back into the team
Odemwinge is a miss so far! Huth I cant wait to see back with Ryan.
So Shawross/Bojan/Walters so far for me
However if Bojan carries on he will sweep the board. Kids will want his name on their shirts, women will swoon and blokes will want his kids as well.

Can't agree with Whelan on a higher mark than Cameron. In fact, I'd have Geoff above Bardsley, Muniesa and N'Zonzi too. As for Moses, he has to be an 8 or 9 for me. He was sensational up until his injury. You mention end product but nobody has more assists than him in our entire squad (and that's with him missing the last 4 games through injury and also the first 2 games of the season as he didn't sign until the end of August).
