Step right up and every geezer on this forum can put a boot in to old Brek .... How about a boot for his fanboys that hyped him this far? You know, the fans that don't watch matches, just highlight reels and check twitter to make sure Shea is playing amazing. Please lets give those fans some credit.

You stayed on message for almost two years and were vindicated with the failure of a USMNT player wearing a Prem shirt. This has turned out so well for American soccer and Stoke. Why would any American soccer fan NOT want to see one of our own make good on the biggest stage? Don't ever come on here spouting your $&@$& about being a USA soccer fan, you are not. Just keep begrudging Yank's their success. Heaven forbid we would want to grow the game in this country by getting our best some valuable overseas experience. But as so called US soccer fans that is appropriate behavior I guess now ....

Heaven forbid we would want to grow the game in this country by getting our best some valuable overseas experience. But as so called US soccer fans that is appropriate behavior I guess now .... Please most USA fans knew Shea couldn't make it in the Championship. I root for Shea every second he's on the pitch, but he lacks basic skills, and it's always been ignored because he can "grow the sport". He should be nowhere near the pitch for Stoke, he made it this far because of ignorant USA fans and a bankrupt USA soccer system that cares more about looking cool then the actual sport of football. "begrudging Yank's their success." Please that's foolish and ignorant, I'm the exact opposite. Juan Agudolo could be playing for Stoke but fanboys played pretend that Shea was not a League 1 player! Please unless your American you can't understand how bad Shea is for the USA. USA fans didn't even need to think about our best prospect Andy Najar back in 2012 because Shea was going to be starting for Arsenal! This whole Shea thing was a huge gag. Jurgen has only told Shea not to take a transfer out of the MLS; Shea is also the only USA player Jurgen has asked up Wenger to let train at Arsenal. Shea has left better players in is wake just because of his image can "grow the sport". It's really sad. I blame "fanboyism" "Why would any American soccer fan NOT want to see one of our own make good on the biggest stage? " I swear to God I wish Shea could start of Stoke, but I watched him suck for 3 years and everyone just ignore it because his art and hair will grow the sport in America. I wanted to be wrong, but I can't burn his super-sub performance vs Jamaica out of my brain!

Whatever, you ever read any of your old posts? Besides reeking of reverse racism you never missed an opportunity to stick your boot in and gob off with your "fan boy" mullarkey. If any good comes out of the Brek failure I hope it is that you will leave this board and stalk him across the pond. You are no Stoke fan so leave us in peace. I am sure Orlando City's fans can't wait to see you "educate" them on your MLS conspiracy theory on their message board. No more of your proselytizing needed on this hallowed board any more.

Shea never had a chance because he didn't earn his chance, his transfer was created by fanboys off some great plays in broken 6 man-sub Friendlies or vs MLS garbage. Shea was thrown to the wolves through the hype fanboys created. Jurgen and ADIDAS/MLS marketing campaign played a huge role too. Fanboys are hurting the USA with all the bogus Shea. The hype pulls attention away from real prospects that could help USA like Andy Najar, Juan Aguedolo, Shawn Parker, Timmy Chandler, Devant Parker, Andrew Wooten, Ashton Götz. I know Andy Najar plays for Honduras, but back in 2012 nobody gave a damn about Najar because of Shea was a superstar! Fanboys would rather see fan favorite League 1 caliber Shea over much Bundesliga caliber immigrants. Before you even say half those players don't have US Passports, that's the point! USA fans should be begging Bundesliga imports to come play, not hyping a player of Shea's caliber. Notice 3/4 USA scorers at the World Cup were imports. I love Stoke and please god play Cameron in the middle!

I know why it was, I'm just surprised we are still interested. Personally I don't rate him. H Juan Agudelo is a caliber better then Shea and Edu. I would not be shocked Juan Agudelo never makes it at Stoke but I didn't see Cameron making the jump from the MLS to starting RB for Stoke. I have no clue where Juan Agudelo will even play at Stoke. Juan can play much better then Shea.

He was shit for us, we get it. He's gone, we get it. Most are happy, again we get it. Why not just let this chapter of history lie instead of picking it up with "HEY GUYS REMEMBER HOW SHIT HE WAS?". Painful. Orlando City fan here, I lurk these boards because of the connections that the clubs have. Can someone explain the visceral hatred for Shea? What did he do specifically to elicit such a primal response? We're all thrilled to have him for the Lions based on his performance in MLS. I'm looking for a technical critique of him rather than, "his hair is weird and I hate US soccer."

I'd looking for a technical critique of him rather than, "his hair is weird and I hate US soccer." I don't think it's visceral or even hatred, he just wasn't good enough. As far as a technical critique goes, he looked out of his depth from the word go and never showed anything in competitive games to suggest otherwise. He had injury and fitness problems, true, but even players with those issues tend to show at least the odd touch or moment to suggest they have a bit of quality. Brek never did. He was atrocious when he started against League One Walsall in the cup, poor when he came off the bench at Birmingham and Everton. He had two loan spells at Championship clubs and singularly failed to distinguish himself at either. We saw nothing of his fabled pace or skill, and more of him dicking around embarrassing himself, be it cavorting around wearing a pig's head or giving Barnsley fans the finger, than we ever did of him knuckling down or improving. Perhaps that's unfair, but you can only call it as you see it. We spent two million pounds on him, the manager spent an important deadline day in London securing his work permit, and he wasn't remotely worth it. Good luck to him in MLS though.

Thanks for clearing that up! Can I just add that we have to have an obligatory hatred of someone who plays for us - it's not in our nature to like all the players, although currently (since the resurrection of SJW) it's been difficult to find a target!

I'm looking for a technical critique of him rather than, "his hair is weird and I hate US soccer." If you ever watch him try to dribble past anyone you can notice his lack of dribbling ability. He's all left footed with average speed. He is always out of control and relays on his athleticism rather then skill to dribble past defenders. He doesn't have the ball skills to do dummy dribbles at defenders. At Stoke Shea was clumsy defender. He's not great at stopping crosses and defense in general. Most USA writers/fans refuse to believe Shea's defense is below par. Shea has always been sold to USA fans as an amazing defender. Shea can use his 6'3 frame and decent speed to cause havoc in the MLS. He's left touch is near World Class.

I love American Soccer, and from the begging was scared this Shea was scare off Stoke fans. Shea is pure marketing campaign based off his image/culture. Dear
Please God watch Shea's 1 real match with the USA before his Stoke transfer, USA vs Jamaica Sep 7, 2012. If he was injured he shouldn't have looked that bad. I think that's the same way most Stoke fans feel.
Shea has been given and will be given many chances over better players. Just how it is. Sex sells I guess?????
