He had a good season and wanted to cash in. He won't be the first or last player to do that.

Don't forget that the then chairman did everything as cheap as possible. Greedy Biggins? Or short sighted from Stoke?

'But the main reason was my huge gambling debt that I living in Sheffield, just 15 minutes from Barnsley.'
I loved Biggins.

It was at a function in the Stanley Matthews suite when Wayne Biggins stated that he didn't understand why the boss worked them so hard. This is despite Biggins personal metamorphosis from a half decent up and downer journeyman plodder to a lean mean goal machine! But Bertie played his part in the transformation.

I was at Mansfield when he kissed his badge then left leaving me with a Cockatoo called Bertie :-( He is my favourite ever Stoke player and I was at that game. When he kissed his badge I went berserk because we all knew he was going,he was forgiven though. Superb centre forward who had a great touch.

I guess it was the cost of fake tan that forced the issue. As the article says, there were a couple of contract issues at Stoke. Perhaps Stoke decided it was time he started paying for his fake tan himself.

He was underrated Sid a very good striker and just at the right time for us.
