To be fair women have been serving in frontline roles for years in RN and other units such as medics, comms and logistics. There are at least 3 female Military Cross recipients for bravery in the face of the enemy. Females have won the Commando Green Beret to allow them to work in support of frontline Commando units so this is inevitable. I have no problem with this having had experience of serving with women onboard RN ships.

I must admit when I saw the title I thought we were talking about women jumping from out of some form of sponge cake....thinking this is yesterday's news having been done many times since the 30's.

If they were to join the infantry they would presumably have to pass the combat infanteers course, and most wouldn't be able to. It's hard enough for young, able bodied men.

Ive heard far too many cases of units falling to pieces when women are introduced. We shouldnt risk soldiers lives just to satisfy the PC brigade.

That takes a special type of character

Women are generally weaker than men, not sexist, just a fact and consequently I doubt most of them would be suitable to fight for the country.
Also, bound to be inappropriate relationships forming

So obviously the right move...vicious fuckers when the moods on em. Taliban vs a bunch of premenstrual scousers....... Rag heads wunner stand a chance That's a great idea underdog.............form female infantry units from cities and areas of UK. A Janner Bird Unit from Plymouth would be seiously scary. It is also a known fact that a bunch of females working together will gradually all fall into the same menstrual cycle so that could be done during training thus unleashing them onto the frontline all of them honed to pre-menstrual viciousness.

If they pass an EQUAL training programme then let them serve in an all female unit not mixed. Crowd control units armed with rolling pins would certainly sort a few lads out.
Fighting is half physical and half in the mind, no one really knows if they would turn and run until they face it for real. Courage seems to be genetic rather than taught.
Russian women drove T34s in WW2 which might be why they rammed into the German Tigers at Kursk =)
I'm 54 old fashioned as hell so it's a no from me but what worries me more is why in God's name would they want to dress like a man and fight in the first place, being stabbed I can tell you is no fun never mind being shot at , gassed, or otherwise dismembered. I always thought the only reason Men did it was because no one else was stupid enough to.
Was it Churchill who said "A man does what he must - in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures - and that is the basis of all human morality." they do not go to war because it is glamorous or fun.

Very true ... Mind you , some of those Russian women who drove those tanks were ugly buggers ....reminded me of my mother in law. They used to train alsations to run underneath German tanks with magmatic mines strapped to them too.

The first woman to join an infantry regiment since defence chiefs lifted a ban on females serving in combat units has quit after just two weeks of training, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.
The recruit dropped out of an 18-week course this month after falling behind her male counterparts on endurance marches and failing other physical tests at a training base in Suffolk.
It is understood that when the woman resigned, she admitted having underestimated the physical requirements of being an infantry recruit. She also told officers that living in female-only accommodation made her feel ‘like an outsider’ and weakened her resolve. Her resignation is a huge blow to officials who are determined to integrate women into fighting units in the Army, Royal Marines and Royal Air Force.

Females are also prone to hip injuries after carrying Bergen’s. Correct, the number of hip injuries caused to women trying to keep up with their male counterparts is quite high It’s all down to Mother Nature. The female hip is designed for child birth and is not as strong as the male hip. I’m a former Submariner, and I had absolutely no problem welcoming females into the fold on submarines. There is no reason for the subs to be all male. I’ve also been attached to the Royal Marines, and the sheer physically of it would be problematic to most females in my opinion. However, better people than me in NATO say female’s are combat ready for units like the RM and you have to respect that.
