It's over six games and Liverpool weren't god enough over six games. Only won one....late penno at home to Ludogorets. Threw a lead away at Ludogorets and at Basel looked scared.

Did you notice how Rogers went straight down the tunnel at the end without facing the fans or encouraging his players?

Yeah bastard referees, applying the rules of the game. twats. brushing a players face with a finger while not looking and running the opporsite way, yea sorry straight red for that He did look though, and then threw out his arm at head height right in front of the ref. There was intent, even if there was minimal if any contact. That is why he was sent off,it was his own stupid fault.

"while not looking" - are you blind? Markovic looked round saw the bloke about a metre away, realised he was just in touching distance and flicked an arm at him. He knew EXACTLY what he was doing and he got what he deserved. I meeant not looking at the moment he brushed his face.. Deserved what he got, he knew exactly what he was doing ref

It was cheating he made more than a meal of it and he should get a 3 game ban for unsporting behaviour.

Got to give it to FC Basel, the last two champions league tournaments they've came to play everywhere. Even at Anfield where the T.V. pundits and biased matchday commentators where wanting that second to go in. Good spirit and a few quality players in that Swiss side. Good on them.

It's disgraceful that Champions League failures still enter the Europa League knockouts. If they're to insist on doing this then they should at least have a preliminary between the Champs League sides to see who wants it, but ideally they should just fuck it off altogether. Yes it is disgraceful. But look on the bright side - playing on Thursdays in the Europa will probably cost Liverpool a good few Premier League points before the season ends! That will only turn out to be a bright-side if we're directly competing with them in the table towards the end of the season. If as I suspect that doesn't turn out to be the case then we want them as strong as possible when they face our direct competitors.

Red card for that is just ridiculous. The game has gone soft. Why couldn't it just be a yellow card. When you think of some of the stuff Marshy, Pej, Bluto and Smithy did in virtually every game. They would never have played 90 minutes in their careers. Anyone who thinks that is a sending off has been brainwashed by all the ridiculous analysis we have of every little incident in every game.

Absolute disgrace that Liverpool, 5 times winners , have been eliminated from this mickey mouse cup. If I was a Liverpool Fan now I'd be demanding a full and thorough enquiry, and I would not settle until the Chief Constable of South Yorkshire resigns.

I don't see that Markovic can complain at that. he had no need to throw out an arm and whether or not he actually hurt the opponent is irrelevant - he threw an arm deliberately and caught him in the face - straight red - the ref is correct. Spot on John. Striking or attempting to strike an opponent.

Back to the original purpose of the thread, this is why I believe it's highly hypocritical of Hillsborough campaigners to object to the rail seating system, stating that they'd rather their families were sat safely at the ground. They are simply putting more people in danger by blocking the system. Many of the campaigners don't attend football matches, and only use their personal motives and misconceptions as a measuring stick for the systems relevance and usability. As a result, they don't see the 10,000 scousers standing on the kop, and they relax happily believing the supporters are sat arms folded in their seats.

To be fair it is actually one group of the Hillsborough campaigners who are against rail seating - most have no problems with it, or that's what I was given to understand when I raised it some months ago. It is a free country, I suppose, and anyone who is against it has a right to be against it - but they should make it clear that, in respect of rail seats, they don't speak for all Liverpool fans or all Hillsborough victims' families.

Agreed, Lakeland. When I said Hillsborough campaigners, I was referring to the group who do oppose it, not the campaign as a whole. It just frustrates me how they can oppose a safety feature when that's exactly what they're all about in terms of the future.

It's not certain that contact was made but by the reaction of the Basel player he was caught by a pile driver and must have a fractured eye socket. Two fouls were commited, one by each player. Soon the cameras will be used in situations like this
