Why start another Pulis thread ? We all know where it will end. Why not start a Hughes best/worst signing, that's more relevant surely ?

Surely pulls is as much about stoke city's history as Tony Waddington or Brian Little etc etc.Not a anti Mark Hughes thread but a "who do you think?"thread.????

I would guess the Dean Whitehead blind spot is is a fairly similar confition to the Jon Walters blind-spot and shared by similar folk !

I think it's retarded how no one here can accept a thread about Tony Pulis... Anyways he signed some incredible players to be fair, not sure I knew how good they were till he left though (he didn't get the best out of many) Personally, in no particular order: Shawcross, Begovic, N'Zonzi, Huth, Lawrence, Fuller, Ethers

Whitehead was average to poor. Had the odd good game, was never a part of our best midfield. Not worth five million quid.

He was always replaced and when he was in he side it usually meant we'd go on a a bit of a bad run and Whelan or Delap would come back in, reform the partnership and we'd suddenly be much better again. He was awful. And all for 5 million. Jeepers.

So shall we never mention Gordon Banks, Stanley Matthews. The club has done excellent without Pulis and after he has left he only ever treated us with respect and fondness, yet people vilify him on here sometimes Fuck me sideways! some of you lot....

Nope he did a ton of good work for us but because it lacked any pretty little whistles and bells he's another easy target. Much like Whelan always used to be. We paid a lot for him but that wasn't Dean's responsibility.

We paid a lot for him but that wasn't Dean's responsibility. None of our midfielders of the time did anything that had any pretty little whistles but there were still a good 3-5 signed by TP who did it more effectively than him. And I'd include Amdy Faye in that.

He's an easy target because it was a lot of money for someone who was a poor footballer and didn't the job in the middle as good as other in the squad. Delap, Faye (Amdy), Whelan and Diao knock spots off him as defensive midfielders.

Both Crossley and Taggert were inspirational which was what was critically needed at that time whilst Shawcross is what we have now which is a fantastic player and an absolute colossal captain.

Whitehead never let us down. The price tag was nowt to do with him.
As for the answer to the opening question - Ryan Shawcross.

Nah don't agree at all - Faye and DIao made nothing like the positive contribution although the latter was also better than many gave him credit for.
