Being a player and massive cricket fan this one has really got to me. Such a shocking situation and so many lives destroyed. You have to feel for the young bowler Abbott too. God knows how he can recover from this but hes going to have to be really strong mentally...easier said than done of course. I still cant quite get my around this...RIP.

Truly tragic for everyone involved. I feel so sad for Sean Abbott too. It will be so hard for him to play cricket ever again. Each time he starts the run up he'll have 1 image in his head.
Rest in Peace Phil Hughes

RIP indeed. Condolences to all family.
It's such a one in a million (billion?) chance that ball met head at the precise spot, angle, speed and everything else. I'm gutted. How Sean Abbott will cope I really can't imagine - obviously no blame attached.

I was absolutely gutted when I saw this on the news. I'm 64 now but played cricket to a decent standard in the local leagues for 40 years and helmets were not even invented then. For that ball to have missed his helmet and caught him where it did must have been a chance in millions.
He played cricket at Worcester in, I think, 2012 and was regarded, not only as a great batsman but also a really nice bloke. As for the bowler, Sean Abbott, God knows how he is feeling at the moment.
Rest in peace Philip, and to you Sean, it wasn't your fault mate.

This is such a tragic accident of a young person playing a sport he loved, it is also a tragic accident and one that will live with the young bowler for the rest of his life.Hope time will help him to get over this. We as football fans sometimes moan when the game stops for a head injury; now we no why the refs cant take any chances.

Very very sad RIP Phil Hughes and to Abbott never blame yourself it could have been anyone. Massive respect goes to the Aussies for the way they have handled such a sad situation Michael Clarke is a really brave and courageous captain.
