Shocking News. BBC Breakfast have just interviewed Dom Cork about it. I feel for Hughes' family, of course, but the bowler must also be feeling gutted at the news. Unlike, say boxers, who know they may cause serious injury, I can't imagine how a bowler would feel if a legitimate delivery has this result. R.I.P Phil and condolences to all close to him.

RIP to Phillip and thoughts are with his family.
Thoughts are also with the bowler who delivered the tragic ball. Hope he is not too shaken up by the situation and is able to overcome this mentally. It certainly wasn't his fault.

Flags are all at half mast over here and the whole country is in mourning. It's a terrible loss; a young guy with a great talent from the bush. Spare a thought for young bowler Sean Abbott who is devastated. RIP Phil

Devastating for his family, colleagues, and the wider world of sport.
A freak accident and such a shock
One that could happen in the park, at school, a local club......
I'm sure that Phillip would wish that all involved are able to return to the game that they love.
Thoughts are with his family and all involved
RIP Phillip

RIP and sincere condolences to all of his family and friends. As an earlier posted says, spare a thought for the bowler who must be in a very dark place at the moment.

Sadly, the protective gear available to competitive cricketeers is not 'fit for purpose'. This needs to be re-visited a.s.a.p. by the I.C.C..

Absolute tragedy, and spare a thought for the bowler !! Very likeable young man, played over here for 3 counties and was very well like by all who played with and watched him RIP young Aussie.
ps can anyone remember Brian Close [Yorkshire & England ] facing up to the West Indies attack of Wes Hall & Charlie Griffith with just gloves, pads and a box ? He was black & blue when he got back to the pavillion !!
What can be done re helmets ? Unless they wear helmets like they do in gridion . Freak accident, but still an awful awful tragedy

RIP, all who enjoy sport in whatever guise will be shocked and saddened at this terrible news. Our thoughts should go out to our Australian cousins and in particular his family and team mates. A young bowler is not at fault and Phil was playing the game he loved. RIP fella.
