Be good to find just one solitary poster who witnessed the famous 4-3 victory in the 1958/59, the 2-0 win in 1956/57 or even more impressively the 4-2 win in the 1954/55 season. One for the over 65's on here!! I didn't realise we'd NEVER won a top flight game at Anfield either, all 3 wins in the old Second Division. Our record at Anfield since our last win reads W0 D5 L28, must be one of the worst head to head records around......

Bloody hell didn't realise the record was that bad, wonder how that shapes up against the Old Trafford one. They need a win this weekend, so I honestly think they might get it... However Hughes will really have our lads out there looking for blood and that Liverpool back 4 (and defensive midfield) that look iffy at best. We are in serious need of a centre half and a stronger defence right now and honestly I'm not sure if any of the Liverpool defence would get into the stoke team, maybe Lovren based on last years performance...
It's honestly there for the taking, it's leaky defence versus leaky defence so I'm praying Hughes has had the fucking plumbers in! That said I'm not sure there are many liquids that could slip through the cracks in the pipes that are our defence... Did I take that analogy too far? yes.

You only have to go back to 1976 for an Old Trafford win, W0 D1 L11 since then, pretty bad! Over overall record isn't a disgrace though (W27 D32 L41) we pretty much had the upper hand between the 1890's and 1950!!

Don't think I've ever seen us score there. 2-2 in the League Cup in 1991/92 and 1-2 in the League Cup in 1994/95 for me (didn't go to the recent FA Cup tie when we scored). In the League though never (last time we scored we lost 1-5 in 1982/83). Such a shit record......

Only 1976 for an Old Trafford win, W0 D1 L11 since then, pretty bad! If that's off the top of your head then I'm impressed! What is less impressive however is that record. Be amazing if we could turn both around in one season I'm an optomist

But for two bits of dodgy refereeing (nothing new eh?) I might have witnessed a classic victory in October 1972
Instead all I got was the double heartache of seeing us get beat with a last minute goal and witness Banks' last game for The Potters

No, but seen Tony Kelly nutmeg Bruce Grobellar to make it 2-2 shortly after he'd turned around to us Stokies and gave us the Vs.

I think we're in a Harry Patch situation. The last soldiers from that ancient victory are dead.

Saw them get beaten in the 60,s or early 70,s. Went down 2-1 when the likes of Thompson, St.John, Tommy Smith were playing. I think Dobing scored for us. Was sat amongst the scouser's. Only a young whippet of a lad, so didn't say too much. I remember enjoying the game though! Unusual for me, because even then I hated us getting beaten!

It was a great mental when "play me or sell" Kelly nutmeged Grob. To this day I really don't think he actually meant it.

Our record at Anfield makes WBA record against us look like a temporary blip in form.

Bit harsh Sheik - A old guy(Jack) I usually see in the pub was at the 1946 Burnden Disaster, he is 90 though.

1958/59? I was three years old then and had only just stopped sucking my mum's nipples! A tit before my time, mate?

Well - I would have been there but for the switch to a Friday night - due to the National Me and my mate used to go on the Saturday football specials I remember it clear as day - I had sorted out the papers on Saturday morning then went out with my round - about 6.30am. First thing I did was sit on a wall and open up a newspaper to check the result and report. Next thing I'm jumping up celebrating a famous 4-3 victory. Shankley was the manager having recently left Huddersfield Little did I know then that we would still be waiting now for the next win!! Damn shame that we will be understrength tomorrow as Liverpool are there for the taking As with United we have travelled with an inferiority complex which has cost us dear over the years Other events close to that time were the launch of the first Sputnik and beer being headlined at 1/- (one shilling) - being 5p today lol

I was 2 weeks old when stoke won 4-3...my dad jimmy Wallace was Stoke's number 11 and he assisted 2 of the goals (he was from Liverpool and a lot of friends and family went to the game - a few of them didn't speak to him for long while)

they always have to name the big names Asprey Wilshaw and Allen...but the original match write-up says Anderson and Wallace turned the game around for Stoke
