Got married on a match day.
Sat 07 Nov 1992 - at home to Bournemouth.
Registry office up Hanley early doors - then down to the Vic about 1 o'clock where my mates had sorted us out an executive box. Got pissed up during the match, and got some photos of me and the missus (her with her wedding dress, me in my suit) with Sir Stan.
After the match (we won2-0) few pennos at the missus in goal in front of the Boothen, then into the lounge at the Vic at the invite of Mr Macari. Blagged a couple of tickets for the next match (home against the Vale in the FA cup) so had to cut the honeymoon short by a few days.
It can be done.
Gooaaaarrrrnn Stoke.

There's no excuse. There are quite a number of weeks between the season ending and the next one starting. And now we've got these damn international breaks you can fit them in on a Saturday once the fixture list comes out. My wife once said to me "you love Stoke more than you love me". I smiled and said "that simply isn't true". "ahh" she said to which I replied "I love Vale more than I love you". Despite it being a joke she didn't speak to me for a week. Priorities !! on a similar note...my ex once asked what would happen if she was sat in the Boothen and cheered on the opposition, i said "you'd get stabbed luv" she then asked what would happen if she was in the Boothen and cheered for the Vale, i said "Fuck everyone else, I'D stab you" god only knows why i'm single now

September 14th 1991 Stoke 2 Fulham 2
At that point I supported a third division team, the other half supported a first division team.
We are now both in the same league and our teams play each other on Saturday.

16th September 1978. Hoping like hell that we would be away! Doom and Gloom when the fixtures came out Palace at home! No way out of it. However, someone somewhere was smiling on us as on Friday 17th the game was called off as most of the squad had come down with a bug (If my memory serves me right)! Now that was a result!!!

We had musical chairs and the Can Can. There where probably other games planned, but my father in law got into a fight with his two brothers.
Me and my Dad sorted em both out (the two brothers).

Pulis kept us in the Championship the day I got married and then I watched* us get promoted to the Premier League on the same day five years later.
*at the brother in-law's on the tele box due to a pre-planned 'do'. I didn't move from the tele for the 90+ minutes and after. I was stunned into silence, thinking we'd never go back up.

Not so much married on a matchday-but when we got married on 6th May if Stoke had made the play-offs it would have been our home leg that day.
We ended up 8th in the end with that last day draw at QPR.Which was a good job as our evening do was being held at The Power League-the management assured us it would be empty of Stoke fans if we did make the play offs.

I got married on April 23rd 2005. We played the Alex away (I was just down the road at the hunters lodge!) and beat them 2-0 with goals from Neal and Noel-Williams. I got divorced just over a year later! I'm due to get married again on 12th Nov 2016 and then 2 weeks abroad from the following Thursday, so I hope it's a international weekend and a couple of away games so I don't miss too many at the Brit!

10th October 1992.
We beat Leyton Orient at home 2-0; Stein got them both!
My father-in-law tried to make a joke in his speech that we were losing, only to be answered by a chorus of replies from my mates who had all been keeping an eye on the score.
Great season; we finished top with 93 points and lost the final game away at Bolton to keep the Vale down!

A mate of mine got married on the day of the quarter finals for Euro '96.
As soon as they got married most of the lads were out of the church and listening to car radios.

I told my wife that if she arranged our wedding to be in any month except June or July she'd be there on her own :o
It also had to be in a year when no major football tournament was taking place :)
In my mind that was the price to be paid for me living away from my beloved team and City ;)

We got married in a fever hotter than a pepper sprout. Actually April 4th this year. At the reception someone told me about the Adam wonder goal.
The lot from Merseyside were glum because Liverpool had turned in an insipid performance against Arsenal- a shape of things to come
