Anyone else notice there's already a tendency for the players to line up, the ref then measures out the ten yards which is behind where they are standing but then goes back and sprays in front of where the players are. Atkinson did it several times yesterday. Rather makes the whole thing pointless

It's not even ten yards. I knew they'd cock it up over here! Seen one today in the Hull game. Must have been the shortest ten yards on record! I'd like to get a tape measure out, and measure some of these free kicks. The referees shorten their strides at every one! Useless!

I have noticed all refs doing this as well. Rubbish!

The English refs haven't cottoned on to the fact that you don't actually have to get the wall in position before you draw the line in front of the players' toes. It's maddening seeing the whole to-and-fro of the ref trying to edge the players back - just pace out the ten yards and draw the bloody line, no matter where the players are standing. That way you don't even really have to interact any more with the players - they know exactly where they have to be, no arguments. South American refs have been doing this for years and it works great, our refs should take note.

Needs to be used for throw ins too. Take a run up to it by all means but go past it and you get a yellow card, do it again and you're off.
It's a fcuking joke how many throw ins get taken some 20 yards further down the field from where the ball actually went out.
