Anyone ever had to deal with a neighbour who breached a tree preservation order and felled big old healthy trees without permission (enquiring for sis-in-law)??

Let me know how you circumvent it. I have a nasty old Oak tree quite close to me that I could do with either killing quickly or chopping down on the sly.

I have been directly involved in obtaining a TPO in order to protect trees in our village. Once a TPO has been issued then the land owner cannot prune, trim, fell or do anything to change its shape without first obtaining planning permission to do so. Sal your sister should contact her local planning authority and say what has happened. Unfortunately any amount of fine will not bring an old tree back but an enforcement order can be made to ensure he replaces the tree with a like for like species. It's bad news and down right ignorant when people do this especially if he was aware of the TPO.

Tossers who bought the house diagonally opposite me chopped down all the trees and shrubs in the garden in May, totally illegal because of the nesting birds, but I was working away at the time so couldn't get evidence , they still haven't moved in or done anything else to the garden, tossers.

It won't hurt yer....the trees seem to like it . It can blind people, and I get pissed off cleaning it off my trainers and walking boots. The trees will be coming down if they get permission for the new holiday lodges.
