Defending was inept, despite massive ball possession very few clear cut chances were created, corners and free kicks were very poorly taken and seldom threatened their goal, and scoring opportunities were missed apart from 1.

Burnley put their bodies on the line, when they occasionally broke into the Stoke half with the ball they had four players bearing down on the Stoke penalty area, and, like West Ham, Villa, and Leicester, when they got a goal scoring opportunity they took it.

MH picked the best team he had available and they made a mess of it; his one error was putting Arnie on the park.

I've just had a quick look on their messageboard and one of them is calling us "the dirtiest team [he's] ever seen", and another saying we "couldn't even cheat [our] way out of it".

Nah mate, your lads were flinging themselves to the ground at every possible opportunity. Never seen a spectacle quite like it in fact!

I mean don't get me wrong, we'd have lost even if they weren't doing that, but it was fucking timewasting, cheating shite.

I don't think anybody is with this... just highlighting how absolutely fucking disgusting some of their simulation was - in a purposeful attempt to get our players booked or sent off.  Not content on having the confidence to hold out against us, they stoop to the level of cheating

First of all why do people come on this thread and say things like "you can't blame that for us losing"? Who on this thread has said anything about that being the reason we lost? We didn't deserve anything from the game but that doesn't excuse the disgraceful tactics Burnley adopted. There's time wasting and then there's blatant cheating.

The head injury rule is a potentially life saving rule brought in to protect the players, that some players choose to use it to stop the play when the opposition are in a good position is despicable and cheating of the highest order.

Danny Ings did it twice when there was clearly fuck all wrong with him. And how the fuck does a keeper get cramp?

We have never done that much feigning of injuries.
Slow on throw ins, goal kicks etc. yes but not taking advantage of possibly one of the most serious injuries you can sustain on a football pitch.

When the keeper goes down with CRAMP you know a team is properly taking the piss. I don't blame them for trying it on. It is up to the officials to stamp it out and add the right amount of time on. There were 6 subs in 2nd half. That's 3 mins mandatory time to add on. Given the number of other 'injuries' and the shenanigans of the kèeper to only give 2 more mins is just inept.

It was also interesting that the head injuries came each time we were getting a stranglehold.

Also interesting to se Sean Dyche waving imaginary cards when Moses went down.

If there is a 'head injury' I would like us to follow the practice in rugbyand allow the trainer on whilst play continues. Obviously football is a faster game but I would like the chances of an interference with play weighed up against the need for attention to the injury. It would stop feigning injury because the player could stay down as long as he likes. Also it would stop the confusion and sometimes injustice when players are "instructed" to kick the ball out.

Delaying tactics time wasting yes guilty as charged as do most teams who are the under dogs and under the cosh but faking injury is one thing we have never done and Burnley,Leicester and Villa have all been guilty of that down here this season!

The way the game is, there needs to be a real review of how referees deal with players feigning injury. It's not just Burnley, it's everyone, including us. Teams just know that if they're under any kind of pressure, they just need to go down to kill a few minutes and take the sting out of the game. Sending them off the pitch was supposed to stop it, but the referees don't enforce it properly, because they should make players stay off for a significant period of time. I'd be tempted to say that unless there is a very obvious physical injury, the physio should come onto the pitch and play should proceed as normal.

I tell you what we should do on days like today though (not sure if we can by the way!) is that when there is one of these wank, modern day drop balls that see us given possession back we should insist on having a proper 50/50 from the position the games stops at.

They also had the brass neck to go down then kick it out for a throw and then push up to put us under pressure. The referee did nothing. Utteriy lame.

For a referee with brains this problem is not so difficult. If it becomes clear that a team is using this as a TACTIC (IE organised/planned cheating) then he should not stop the play until the ball has at least gone out of play and longer if he thinks it necessary.

I think playing with ten men for what could be quite a long time might cause some of those who have had their hair ruffled realise they ain't so badly injured as they thought.

Although I will be the first to admit that there is a serious flaw in my idea. I'm stupidly assuming that referees actually have brains.

Don't think he was using it as an excuse was he?It was an observation,and a valid one.There seems to be a worrying trait developing with regards to feigning head injuries.
