I don't know how you other guys find it, but for me (I use Firefox) The Sentinel website is pretty much unusable. I've even had to use Task Manager tonight to get it to shut down after it threw up so many pop-ups that it froze my pc. So I won't be following any links to it from here in future.
OS.

It's a NIGHTMARE, I never follow a Sentinel link. There are more pop ups and music firing up than you can shake a stick at. They have sold their soul to the devil!
Someone will pop up (can I say that?!) in a minute and tell us to fit a 'pop up blocker' but I shan't be doing that, I suspect there are times you actually need pop ups.

Its got to be the worst site to read, the amount of adverts, pop up shite and bollox makes it totally futile, which kind of spoils it all because the comments on various news stories make some of the contributers on here look quite sane

Mick,
It's fucking useless.
As an exile, this is soooooo fucking frustrating for me.
It's a fucking joke since about a month ago.
How am I supposed to know who has been nicked from the Burton Stores for shop lifting?
Pig Pen Gary must be fucking exhausted, the prick.

The Plymouth Evening Herald is exactly the same. Both are part of the Mail Newspaper Group or something like that and all is blamed on the headquarters doing this for the revenue and there is little that the provincial newspapers can do about it. Apparently. Yes as an exile I find it very frustrating.

Couldn't agree more. Firstly, after selecting a page the video kicks in and tell me about things I have no interest in whatsoever. If I'm in the office this at times has played through the speakers and believe me, the majority of my colleagues have no interest either.
Of late there are new ads that appear among the text and move what I'm reading. Most annoying. I've written to the sentinel and was told i was writing to the wrong department. They gave me another mail address and after several weeks I've heard nothing.
I can now say I'm an x user of the website.

I wrote the email after speaking to a member of staff who said he couldn't agree more with my point of view and that what was going on was stupid but was as a result of a daft decision taken in London. I've never understood the logic of replies like the one you got saying you have "written to the wrong department" - isn't it normal customer service to pass such letters or emails on to the correct department for them to reply direct to you?

I really can't understand why anyone WOULDN'T use adblock. It takes two seconds to install by going into your Firefox addon's menu & then hey-presto, no more annoying adverts on any site. If a site had some kind of pop-up that you needed to use adblock would know it wasn't annoying spam adverts & allow it through - If by some bizzare chance it ever blocked anything you needed (Although I can't think of an example of where this has ever happened) it'd take you literally two clicks of your mouse to allow pop-ups on the website you're viewing. For anyone using Firefox who hasn't got adblock just click here & then click the big green 'add to firefox' button & you're sorted.

I've just been on it. Before I could read a single word of content, I had a pizza cutter darting all over my screen trying to sell me a frozen pizza (at five to ten in the morning), the Co-op trying to sell me a Christmas pudding, a trailer for a movie and some cunt barking on about mobile phones at a hundred decibels.
I only wanted to know how Erik's fucking achilles was.

This has been brought up previously and a fellow stokie suggested using "Ghostery", which is brilliant and makes the Sentinel usable again.

Without Adblock installed, I don't know how folks view streams of matches. Plenty of popups there also.
Use Adblock - not just for the Sentinel.

As an extra, if you have the Firefox mobile browser on your phone then you can get adblock plus for that, too. It's a lifesaver.

Adblock is highly recommended in general anyway.
Although i have to turn it off on proboards otherwise the page doesn't reload to the top when you click 'next page' in a thread.

Thanks for the advice, guys. Have installed the Adblock add-on and will see how I go on. At least it's not just me pissed off with the Sentinel. OS.

For those using Chrome. Don't browse in incognito mode because Adblock is auto disabled.
